Hey, I'm wondering where other GS owners stash their tools? I've been carrying my tool roll in my Kriga backpack, but I'm tired of taking up so much space in the bag with heavy tools. I would love to read what others are doing to address this need. Also, its important to note that under the seat (not enough room) and inside pannier bags are not options. I'm looking for a solution that allows me to keep these tools on board at all times regardless of the bags mounted at any give time. So far I'm thinking a tool tube that mounts right behind the license plate bracket would be a good (out of view) place to focus. I also think some sort of locking mechanism would be cool. Thanks!
I mounted a Storm iM2100 to my rear luggage rack. I just drilled four holes in the case and used some stainless steel bolts and rubber washers through the existing rack holes. Perfect size for my tool role and first aid/survival kit. Sorry for the sucky smartphone / parking garage pics:
You could try a fender bag like the dirt bike guys. I have seen some mounted on the underside of the beak.
Found this economical solution after a short search. http://www.agrisupply.com/operators-manual-canister/p/67670/ I think this is at least a good place to start building my own mounted tool tube. I just need to buy one and see where I can attach some brackets. Should be big enough to hold my Adventure Designs tool kit.
I put one of the Agri Canister on my '10 GSA. I have Micatech paniers on my bike & put the canister on the right side under the panier.

I've got the agritube and it won't fit my tools for roadside repairs. It's relegated to spare fuel carriage. I just carry my tool roll in my adv case. One of those Raid boxes that fit behind the luggage mounts would be ideal, but they're a bit pricey. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Ditto on this, and I although you have to remove the case I prefer the wider access. Dave was great to deal with.
+1 on that. The benefit to this over the Raidbox from Twalcom is you can get your Cruz Tool kit roll into it.
I like that tool box behind the side cases but since I have the stock Vario cases I don't get the fancy mental frame to mount everything to. I took one of those pelican cases about 8 inches long and bolted it the the rear of my licence plate. and bolted my plate the the pelican case lid. It hold most my tools and keeps them clean and dry which is nice when its time to use them and they arn't rusty. I have a small bike pump that I just put where ever it fits and a few tire tools under the stock seat. All works well and still stays clean.
oh and as far as those tubes from agri supply. They had a clearance awhile back for half price. So i bought 3 of them. Great idea they have a nice o-ring that keeps everything dry but I have a hard time trying to find a place to bolt it up. no where really to put it. if that helps. if you have space you can bolt them to the back of the side cases like what many riders do with their MSR fuel bottles but that's about all I've come up with so far.
Is there a standard tool list that most people carry or is it just trial and error? My factory kit is minimal at best.
