There was someone posting here a while back that had acquired a 200 already butchered that way. IIRC, it did not run too well. Generally, if you make that radical a change in the breathing, you are in for a good time jetting it to work. Unless you have some sort of uncorked exhaust, you won't gain much power, but you will gain a bunch of extra intake noise.

This is what I started with. Not a real big fan of the purple.

Not just increased noise but that's going to be a nightmare in rain or water crossings, plus the filters get dirty incredibly fast. I run filters right off the carbs on my quad and have to run 3 layers of protection just to make it through a weekend. Outerwear on the outside keeps the big chunks off and helps a tiny bit with water (still have to putt through creeks). Under that I have a woman's leg nylon wrapped around the K&N filter. I swap the nylons out usually at the end of every day and they're pretty nasty looking at that point even. IMO an airbox is required on any bike that sees normal daily use including occassional flooded gutters, creeks, or even rain. People on this thread have even had problems with rain on DR's with the airbox lid removed.

    Oh and looks good PSU!

Took a ride today after reducing the clutch free play. Downshifting was much improved, as was finding neutral. Surprising how much of a difference that 1 mm made.

    Thanks, Klay, for the tip.

Dude nice job!!! I think yours is a 96 with the purple frame? Mine is a 97 with the same purple frame. Seeing those pictures makes me really want to strip my bike and repaint the frame..

So the White Rim Trail is open all the way around? I guess so if you exited the west end. It was closed last year, by a wash out I think.
Enjoyed your videos, recognizing most of the areas. :smile6

It would take about 1 more hour to strip it down to the frame...

When I first went through all of the messages in this thread I came across a pair of tables showing speed by gear at various rpm for the DR with 15T and 16T sprockets. I'll be darned if I can find them again. I'd appreciate it if someone can tell me the message those tables were in. Thanks.

Yep, open! Lots of new concrete where they fixed what had been washed out. Didn't make it less scary though....
