I'm gutted for Jonah, I've followed his Dakar efforts on here since the debacle of the Dakar that never was and although I'm a Brit my wife is from Yakima WA (not far from Ellensburgh) so I feel a bit of a connection through that.
It's hard to come close to understanding how crap it must be to spend all year preparing for the Dakar and then not be able to give it your best shot due to a mechanical (especially so early on). That's racing I suppose.

What happened to Quin Cody? He was running in the top five and now I don't see him on the standings?

Quinn Cody's in 24th, +19:55. He had a wheel problem on the liaison and was lucky enough to have the KTM team support truck stop and give him a hand or it could have been a lot worse.

I think he had fueling problems during the special too?

5mins of penalties though. Speeding probably...

Not to mention his fuel pump was also likely vapor locking and he had to by-pass it to get the bike to run... I guess he was able to gravity feed.

In his Eurosport interview (thanks again, knybanjo), Quinn was quick to mention his fuel pump, but didn't say anything about the tire.
