Other question. Is your new tank a little bit wider that orig tank with the plastic? Have mounted a WP 48mm fork & wondering if I can still get full steering. It,s possible with my orig tank and plastic but is it still possible with your tank? It,s a much better than OTR to much expensive tank! :/

I have the Gillimototank aswell mounted on my bike and there are some clearance to it so in my opinion it should work.

If you pass by Skåne some time you can check it out.

Where in Sweden do you live?

Picture of me on my bike yesterday during a 245 km drive in -2 C.

    Hi y'all! :D

    A couple of weeks ago I traded my '04 Suzuki V-Strom 650 for a '05 XT 660 R.

    Here's a pic at dealer's:

This is what the XT660R should looked from the beginning before it came out! [IMG]

    *Yamaha XT660R -07
*WP front fork 48mm with KTM front brake
    *Öhlins in the back
    *2-1 exhaust OTR
    *Adv spec bash plate
*EXCEL rims front/bak, 18" in back
    *Modded backlight
    * MM radiator plate
*PC5 with foamfilter and o2 optimizer
    *XTX sidepanels
*The bike is raised about 35-40mm almost higher then a KTM690 2012
    *Steel mounted brakehose front/back
*Acerbis Rally3 hand guards "are not mounted on this picture"

No problem to chase a KTM690 [IMG]

What a great thread. I've always wondered why Americans buy the KLR. Now I know it's because they can't buy the XTR. I don't have one yet but I really want one to supplement my B-King. Then I'll probably have the two most reliable bikes in the world. I plan on fitting Renthals and Barbusters, a bashplate and a metal top box of around 30 litres. Metal Mule are so expensive I may go for a Touratech one. I'd like the old type that fix on from the inside of the box. I'm not sure I can get a new one without the panniers, which I definitely don't want. A Woolfman Enduro tank bag will complete things. XTRs are not so cheap in Portugal, where I live (around 6,700 euros) and bike shops don't discount here. I'd buy second hand but few people in Portugal maintain bikes properly as they can't really afford to run them in the first place.
I intend to do southeast Asia on it but the route is troublesome with all the stuff happening in the Middle East. It is possible to fly a bike over on Air Malasia in the hold. For example, I read about a couple on a V-Strom 650 who flew back from KL to Amsterdam and the cost wasn't that prohibitive.
