I'm already on that limb I've got to get the throttle sorted first. I have a repop Triumph twin-pull right now. It routes the cables straight down from the bar leaving them exposed in the woods. I bought this for the Keihins to run the cables behind the headlight: The eBay ad said this came from a Kawasaki but it didn't say which one. No idea what to do for cables. When I ditch the choke cable I can toss the clutch perch with it. The light switch hasn't worked in a while. Any recommendations on a new one? Anything that fits the old cable would be fine. Don't really care what it looks like.
I'll bet Rocky Point can fix you up with cables. I mistakenly have a set of cables for an R60 that might work if that's any help (small barrels on both ends)...I got them before I realized the R75 had different ends.
You're right, these are the same way. There's a big plug on the bottom of the bowl and you can change both the main and the pilot jet through it. That's going to make this a lot easier. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_qAVXneKAkU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Skip ahead to minute 5:10. The guy made a float level gauge that I NEED to make. This is like waiting for Christmas. I've got class next week then Spring Break. Hopefully I'll have all the parts in along with an idea of what jets i need so I can get these sorted out while I have some time off.
I bought half of a K&N intake kit for a GSXR. I had to match the muffler ya know The flanges have the same OD, 2.5", as the carbs so some rubber tubing from the hardware store should set me up for cheap. I've got Spring Break week after next. I'll probably do a tech day on one of those to get some of this sorted out. Lemme know if anybody's interested.
I'm having a harder time finding 2.5" radiator hose than I expected. I spent yesterday roughing in the exhaust since I can't do anything to the intake until parts come in. This is all 1.5" SS tubing. This project snowballed fast.
Geeze, man. Whats really a bummer is that between Fred and I, we have a nice selection of Mikuni TM/VM pilot and main jets.....about 150$ worth. You hopefully can find a "tune up" kit for the Kehin and get a deal on jets.
Lower radiator hose from a Ford panel van. I'll end up cutting off half the hose but I think this is going work.
It kinda shocks me because the stock wires are ten times better than most aftermarket wires I see on airheads. The bike seems to be yearning for some yellow graphite wires that will look the part.
I'd have to tie new plug wires to a rope and drag them through a few hundred miles of trail to make them match the rest of the bike. It's just too much work to switch plug wires considering that so I stuck with the stockers. It was a simple cost-benefit analysis.
Never got them to work. At one point I gave up on my own wrenches and took the bike to a professional. He couldn't get it to run either. I got some Mikunis, didn't even change the jets, and it fired right up. That intake turned out to be great though. It fit fine on the Mikunis. It's solid, light, easy to take off and clean. It has 1/2" higher intake height for water crossings than stock. Meh. It's something. It has a pretty long intake tract which *should* make it better at low RPM. But what do I know. Richie Moore said an open intake is worth 2hp which frankly isn't worth the effort. I'd much prefer better filtering. Moving the intake gave me extra space though so I got a huge underseat toolbox and at least the air filter is never out-of-site out-of-mind.
