I was transporting the box with the KLR to the welder to patch the holes from the previous owners install. I will cut the skirt just under the black line and belly mount it behind the battery box.

Well, going to be back on a klr this spring. Trading my sled for one. Hopefully a new left over. There's a couple here so I may swing a deal even swap for one.

I bought a KLR this summer and sold my sled this fall to pay for it - no regrets yet!

Finished up a little work on the Tengai this fall.

Doohickey & valve adjsutment done. Plus I de-adventuredized all of the P.O.(s) farkles & mods. Brand new OE grips and footpegs really freshen it up.

As it sits here it is all 100% stock, (except for the Wolfman bag on the rack) even the little blue brake guards are stock.

    Just clicked over to 13K.

It is going to get a new chian & sprokects in the spring along a fresh set of brake pads and some TKCs.

It will then be a-couple-times-a-season ice cream chaser, maybe getting a few hundred miles a year at most.

Only 2 years until she can run a "historical" tag.

    Thanks guys!

OK, OK, to be fair.....iridemotorbikes found this bike for me or I would have never discovered it. Have to give credit where credit is due.

Like all of my machines, he gets first dibs if they ever come up for sale.

I won't either. We had crappy winters for the past 5 years. I have three other sleds at my disposal anyways.

as far as the fuel system STARTRON,STARTRON STARTRON.
    http://mystarbrite.com/startron/

this stuff is amazing i run it in every tank of all my carbuerated vehicles. living in south Florida there is always water in the fuel and the ethanol mix really plays havoc with my older vehicles...this stuff is the cure, and cheap only adds a few cents per gallon.

just a thought....a bad/dirty/kinked chain will give the feeling of surging at high speed. maybe check that while you are looking the bike over. i have run into that a few times and i always think it is the engine at first. a little wd-40 to clean it and free up the links and all is better.

:huhI dont care much to spend another 2hrs trying to find all that I should know KLR650....
    Someone please answer these questions:
What are the common problems with KLR650's and maintenance hassels?
    Few of my speicfic questions....
    Shim&bucket valves?
Usually in spec? Pain in the arse to adjust?
Doohickey hard to change before it grenades itself?
    Alternator or electrical flaws?
    Overheat much?
    Special tools needed?
Body work always in the way of maintenance?
    Carb issues?
    Cold nature?
    Premature clutch failure?
Estimated cost of engine rebuild at a regular shop?
Or can an average joe do it?
engine life typically good for 50-75k on well maintained easy commuter/tourer?
Add anything else in you think i should know...
    Thanks.
Basically make me feel better about buying one :D- or discourage me :huh....

2008's and some 2009's have history of burning way too much oil. As with any bike, check oil often!!
