I've been selling them for 3 years now at $24. My competitor sells them for $45. I can tell you that my cost is way higher than $4.99. Princess Auto is selling them at a loss. I did not know I was buying the last 300 when I placed my last order. The sales rep told me they were not making them any more.
I've had my USB socket from Burnsmoto for a couple of months now so I wanted to put up a mini-review. First off Burnsmoto was great to deal with and gave a free shipping discount for ADVrider's. It arrived in 2 days. I've ridden with mine both closed and with the USB plugged in in the rain without any problems. It charges my Galaxy Nexus as fast as a wall charger and faster than my car. The socket is compact enough to stay out of the way. I wired it straight to my battery, routing the wire with the loom. I couldn't decide where to mount mine so I ziptied it to my left bar for now. Next is a Ram Finger mount. I am very pleased with it and recommend Burnsmoto. Pics of it on my old DR.
I've had mine installed for a couple months and found that while my Galaxy S2 appears to be charging (the lightning bolt appears over the green battery indicator), the device is absolutely not being charged. Ran my phone completely down one afternoon after a full charge in the AM. I was using GPS like I use when it is plugged into my car's 12v adapter, which does keep the device charged. Socket is wired directly to battery with the included fuse.
I had that happen to my Droid Razr Maxx running my screen on full brightness with GPS. Upgrading the USB cable solved my problem. I'm not using this particular USB power socket on my bike though. One of these solved my problem: http://www.3brpowersports.com/products_Red_Band_USB.php
USB Waterproof Power Socket - Panel Mount Item # USB-PM Options:: 5 volts, 2 amp Will this work/ charge a Samsung Galaxy Note2 ? thank you.
Burnszilla, do you still have inventory? I was about to purchase on your website but was confused by the 'out of stock' message. Wasn't sure if that was for the USB or just for the customized ends. thanks
Not here to interrupt the thread but just pointing out that having a USB power adaptor does not mean that it will work on all USB devices. Yes, it is true that all USB devices follow a protocol of using 5v but the amperage requirement is just as important and need to be carefully reviewed for your device. Burnzilla's Adaptor produces DC 5V +/-0.25 and 1A max) Jon
I have been informed that the mount pictured Below (Right side) is no longer available. Has anyone seen this mount for sale else-where's? Thanks.. Originally posted/found here "http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=569860"
They are no longer in production and I sold the last one last month. I have a new source for a charger that looks the same and also comes in 2.1 amps.
I just bought this one from my local BMW dealer (Adventure BMW, Chesapeake VA) - did he see me coming? I wired it to the CenTech and discovered when I tested my iPod Touch that it rendered the touch screen inoperable, a common problem I'm seeing. Should it go directly to the battery or should I junk it for the new 2.1 Amp version?
Hey there! I'm looking for a way to put a good-quality USB hub in my tank bag so I can charge multiple whatevers (iPhone, intercom, GPS, etc.) Will the 2.1 amp version of the USB Weatherproof Power Socket work as a source for the hub, or will that draw too much?
I have never seen this done before. You are dividing 2.1 amps by 4 devices = .5 amps per device. So, that .5 amp wont charge most of your devices.
