Since everyone wants to trade you something for your new "girlfriend"
I thought I would offer you mine as even trade. But your right She would use either of us up very quick.

Very nice Matt. Sounds like it was a fun project. I'm done with those kinds of projects. Everytime I think about one I have to remind myself how much work they are. Projects now are just keeping the bikes maintained and the house. I really just want to play. Didn't mean to get on the bad side of your wife but I'll own it. :D A mans got to have his toys/projects. Keeps us out of trouble. :lol3

Im pretty sure I saw your new bike on CL,despite the fact I was hunting for a 525 I considered dropping everything, renting the dog out, selling my truck and racing over to buy that 690. It is a sweet bike, has under 2000 miles on it I think?

El Caminoooooooooo! Nice score on that as well,a friend had a 396 and a 4 speed in one back in the day, tire smoking broadsliding high school hot rod! I had a 68 Ranchero with 289,much more sedate.

My first ride in High School was a 1955 Willys P/U with a 265cid Chevy in it. Old and slow but a 4-wheelin SOB. Perfect for a little punk red-neck. :lol3 Had a 69 Fairlane fastback later with 302. Plain Jane but a fun car.

When we moved back up here I bought a 56 Willys PU for $500 with the intent of fixing it up but ran out of $, time and desire. One of my dream rides would be a 60 - 62 Willys Wagon with a 6.0 drivetrain! This will probably be my next car project. Love the Willys!

Footdragger, yep that was the bike, the manager of the KTM Shop in Ukiah had it. My brother works for Fetzer and I had him go scope it out for me. Bike turned out better than expected, previous owner seemed to be a great guy - couldn't be happier. Today I'm going to take all the lowering stuff off of it. It's been dropped about 2" and it feels like a moped.

    Todays ride; Tedoc in January.
After yesterdays tiny rip, I needed to get a real ride in.
I stopped at the gas station and after getting gas I decided to readjust my suspension. I twisted it all the way back and then set to a softer setting as I was light without camping gear.
Yesterday I had taken a short ride that was interrupted when my passenger fell asleep. I had to come home and felt short changed.
well today I went by myself and hit the same dirt road out of town.
Feeling a bit spunky after pre riding this portion yesterday I turned up the wick. this road was giving me such an Adrenalin rush that I was loving. I was feeling good on the bike and pushed it. I have found that after 60 I can no longer watch the speedometer, and It was pushing past that often.
After passing my pre ride from yesterday I was so pumped that I kept the hammer down. I popped out on hwy 36 and headed West toward Platina. This was not my plan. My intention was to head East and catch Cannon South. Anyway as my excited mind had to choose long loop or shorter loop. It went long. Out on 36 we have the local Shoe tree.

After stopping and taking a couple pictures I headed over to the Wild Horse Ranch and getting a soda. I have been trying to link up Ball road to this loop but it just can't be done. this was goig to send me back down the hill a couple mile and take Vestal road South. A good ride but I still wanted more, So. farther West and up to Tedoc rd. I had told myself I was going to stay out of the big hills and not be a victim of the ice. But I didn't listen and convinced myself I could be safe. up the big hill. Past Pattymokis lookout.

And yes the road did get snowy and icy.

Past the cut off to Stuart Gap. and rat trap Gap. the riding was perfect I didn't see a vehicle until I came down out of the big trees. 36 miles back to Red Bluff I stopped and chatted with the guys in said vehicles. it was a good place to take a small break as there is an old run way up there that I was able to explain the whole history behind. This is the exact place I got a flat last year and had to abandon my bike and catch a ride with a deer hunter back to town.

This was a very fun ride and for some reason I ripped it up bad. I generally take it easy and don't slide the big Dakar. I am home safe and only had one slide that got away from me. I recovered with a slide back to the other side and then back across again and again with each one getting smaller. You know what I mean. this happen at a slower speed than I had been going and took me a couple minutes to crank it back up.

My ride was 140 miles and 80 of that was dirt or gravel roads. That is a very good loop in my books. Its hard to tip the scales in the more dirt than paved road when you leave from downtown. and the pavement included 25 miles of hwy 36.

Very nice! Looks like a lot of hours invested, love to see this in person. Did it take a lot of work to graft on the Willys front?

Sooo, who lapped me today out on Lowry after Collier Springs road before Red Bluff? Another KTM rider with more skills than I!

Great day for a ride, put 100 miles on the new-to-me bike. Need to get some bar risers and get the suspension back to normal. I think it was lowered for a 5 foot person. Bike has a ton of pull, and is very comfortable at speed - think I'm in love.

Yes Chuck, I'll need adult supervision or this thing is going to get me a few tickets....

Hey Matt, That front end is not grafted on, it's actually a 1961 willys wagon that somebody had cut the top and windshield off of and shortenedd the wheelbase equal to a cj-5. I'll tell you about it next time I see you. Long 4 year project.

It was a beautiful day yesterday. Watch that speed, I got stopped on mine a little over a week ago for speeding, got off with a warning. :D

3 of us had a nice outing up by Ragdump,35 mile all singletrack ride with perfect weather, vented jersey and pants in January. The new 300 is working out great, its the best 2 stroke Ive had by a ways.

I did do one nice slow motion 360 on ice, never saw it,this ice had grass sticking out of it and I just slid in a circle and somehow didnt tip over,I was going slow.

    Rain may happen soon !

It looks like some swapping going on?

Matt I'm surprised you are so put off by orange bikes. I hope you are still willing to ride with one. My other bike is orange and should be able to keep up with a DR. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=879502&highlight=butterfly. Look at the last page for the finished project.
