I appreciate the info, and I would love to have an RS, but I cannot conceptualize a vehicle I'd go to those lengths to get.

I have seen what appear to be good buys on Craig's List lately. Check out the Craig's thread here.

I've bought 2 full RS fairings, with brackets, from ebay.de in the last 12 months or so. Both excellent condition. One for me, one for a buddy.

Our OZ$ is doing well atm, so it's affordable.

I appreciate you wouldn't buy the whole bike from ebay.de.

Keep 'em comin'. I just never get tired of looking at pix of the RS. IMHO, the best lookin' bike BMW ever made.

I got to ride mine to work today. We're having an unusually mild December this year. Last year we were up to our a$$es in snow from Nov. to Mar.

One of my best memories on mine was a couple of years ago coming home from Death Valley in Feb over a 4000' pass in Calif. The snow was coming down pretty hard but not sticking. I had on my Gerbings jacket liner and tucked in behind that wonderful fairing I was as warm as toast, just grinning from ear to ear. Got over the pass and descended into Nevada for lunch and a hot cup of coffee. Best fairing ever.:clap

Is it just me, or is the R100RS one of the best all round and best looking bikes of all time? I saw a bloke riding up the hiway on one last weekend, and thought, man that sure looks great on the road. BTW it was the same colour as mine!

...ditto Lornce, that's one complete RS statement. :thumb

Really I never noticed the Lava color much. Not realy a red or even red-smoke kinda guy. But it's almost a candy apple with a purplish/blue smoke. I figured I'd paint one the way I want some day, but this one's paint is too nice.

That is a good looking paint job Rapid Dog. As a matter of fact there are several really great looking paint jobs on this thread, I assume most of 'em original. Wish I could say the same about mine (see the first page of this thread, post #11). The PO was not kind to this bike having laid it down at least once on each side. I've still got a couple of minor mechanical things to sort out then I'm goin for a repaint. I'll most likely go w/ original color.
