Don't see the connection. I have been reading this forum for years, and have never wanted a KLR. :1drink

I know a few guys that have ridden the KLR on some epic trips. They sound fairly reliable and easy to maintain. Still doing homework on different bikes though, so I could be swayed in another direction. All I know is that the LT is a great bike but dang, the maintenance on them is $$$ if you can't do it yourself.

Yup. Had the fuel line that feeds from the fuel filter split, had to pull the tank to pull that assembly. Then had to source the line, which needs to be "immersion" rated. Getting pretty good at pulling the tupperware though :-)

I've owned 2 KLR 650's. Last one was a 2008. Never a problem with either. Never did the Doo or any other fear inspired updates either. Changed the fluids and tires as required and drove the piss out of both of the them. Nothing ever broke. I wouldn't hesitate to get a 3rd KLR 650 someday.

    Don't do it:nono

I keed, I keed! I've had 3 different KLRs--a 250, a 600, and I'm currently trying to wear out a 650. They've all been rock-solid bikes, delivering a lotta bang for the buck. To enjoy being a KLR owner, ya really hafta be focused on cheapness, durability, and low maintenance, which are the KLR's strengths. If high performance, light weight, coolness, and state-of-the-art technology are what yer after, then ya better look elsewhere. And that's the quintessential truth, RUTH!

The fact is, you can have Big Fun on a KLR or any other bike if ya bring the right attitude to the ballgame. Like this feller, for instance:

Lotsa people say the DR650 is overweight, underpowered and undersuspended...hmmm, this guy didn't think so:

Howzabout a V-Strom 1000...we all know they're not dirtbikes, ya can't have any fun adventure riding on one of those pigs. Just ask this guy:

    Definitely don't ask this guy:

XT225s? Cracker, please. You can't have a good time riding a bike that makes something like 15HP. We all know that! Well, maybe except for this guy:

And this guy, he didn't get the memo either:

And don't even get me started on this guy...he's got an 1150GS, see, and we've been telling him for years to get a real dirtbike so he could do some offroad exploring with us:

No pics of this, but I have witnesses--one of our local Pensacola gazoonies showed up for a Blackwater dualsport ride on his Honda Shadow 600. Looked to me like he was having a good time drifting that sucker around turns, and he didn't bust his ass once. I saw a guy pull up to the Beast Feast back in '06 on a Harley. Ya know what he said? They're ALL dirtbikes.

He might be onto something. Or on something. Or both.:D

I have first hand knowledge that KLR's are heavy to pick up and a lot of work in the woods. Course I was behind a bunch of KTM's so I doubt I was doing it right.:lol3

You my friend are 100% correct :nod

At least a Harley and an Ascot are dirtbikes :lol3
and who the hell wheelies an XT225?

I should note that they are also ALL street bikes...
