In spite of there being less expensive options, for my new 2013 F800GS I decided to spring for the genuine Mudsling guard instead of something else. From what I'd seen online and experienced first-hand when I dealt with them, they offer a great product with top-notch customer support. I didn't want any surprises.

I've spent the last week since my bike was delivered to me (and we're not allowed to ride here in Quebec until tomorrow March 16th because of a snow tire law) installing all kinds of farkles, both functional items (such as guards, fuse panel, etc.) and sparkling items for looks, and I've got to tell you what an incredible pleasure it was to work on an absolutely showroom clean bike. (I've never had that pleasure before, and am likely to ever have it again.)

Anyway, the installation of the Mudsling went quickly and easily. For those who are interested in exactly what it protects, here are before and after photos...

Ever see such a clean bike?

That's sweet!
I'm putting one of those (and the front extension) on my bike.
Where did you get it?

I got it directly from Mudsling (even though they also have a Canadian distributor 😄 ). I also bought their Avant front fender extension and there's really not much to be said about that as it bolts on in about a minute (without having to make any holes), looks good and will probably work very well in keeping crud off the front of the engine.

I had REALLY been hoping to ride the bike to work tomorrow (first ride of the season) but it's snowing now with about 1cm on the ground and with the high temperature tomorrow forecast to be only -6C, it's unlikely I'll be able to.

Darn it!

Hey Mtl Biker, could you post a "pulled back" shot so I can see how it looks with the rest of the bike please?

Thanks!

I'll try to do that later, but my own cruising the web turned up lots of photos "pulled back" and the Mudslings are hardly visible. Which is why I posted the before and after shots showing more accurately what's covered.

I'm heading out for my second ride in a few minutes (my first was only 18km last night in the -8C temperature). If I can, I'll try to get some shots while I'm out.

Mudsling is a great product that protects the rear shock really nicely. One of the first items I put on our bikes. Sad that BMW dosen't spend $3, maybe??? and included a similar item as stock equipment.
