Since you guys helped me pick it, I thought I'd post here. Took the DR out for the first time last week. Short ride. I stopped to do a walk around and discovered I'd forgotten to put the plate on it, so I scurried home. Seems to have a lot of juice. I was surprised how fast I was going several times. I am used to a much heavier bike.

I've taken it apart since to check out a few things.

Need chain and sprockets, those are ordered.
Ordered new front springs, rear next month. (I'm broke)
Needs a few bolts, nuts here and there. Ordered
The airbox has been modded and K&N filters added. Got some hoses hanging out that I need to trace. Need to pull the carb and see what jetting was done.
Bike came with an unmounted Kenda 705. Need to get a tube and mount that. Do you guys use rim protectors? I've never mounted a tire on an aluminum rim.
Has a new Destanzia on the rear.
Did some touch up paint on the frame.
Cut off those nasty fork skins. I've purchased standard gaitors, but I'm missing two clamps, those are ordered.
Got some SS case guards, need to mount those.

I will probably lower it. I'm short and the big problem is not in the riding, but mounting and more so the dismounting. I've got the short kickstand, so I thought I'd factory lower the rear and slide the forks up in the front. If I like it, I'll do the factory lower on the front when I add some emulators.

When is Rick's Rendevous and do you have a rookie class?

Anyone running a case protector on the counter sprocket?

A seat is next after the suspension.

    :clap

if your airbox is done and you have an aftermarket exhaust, I bet the jets are done too... I wouldn't bother, especially if you say it runs great and has good power (as long as there is not backfire or surging you should be golden)

that's all I did, worked just fine. I left the seat stock and dropped the front about 10mm - the only problem is the lower ground clearance (thank dog for a bash plate :norton)

there's all kinds of rides... you'll be fine

never did, and never felt the need to.

    Thanks for the reply.

Got some backfire. The first owner did all the mods. Second owner had no clue. I'm third owner and I want to clean up things I've found, mostly stripped, missing or bent bolts. Carbs might need cleanging. Filter was nasty. I'll feel better once I know what was done.

me? stuck at work... and my little point and shoot camera is getting "crunchy" when I turn it on :cry. Thinking about this one for the next season: should be a nice upgrade and still small enough to put in the pocket (lot's of manual settings - like changing F stops on the control ring :evil). Watcha think?

I've had my S90 for a few years & have been very pleased with the little camera. I like the ability to take control over exposure & the camera does well in "idiot mode".

The camera is just the right size for "on the bike" shots & is fairly easy to operate with one hand. Just attach a lanyard, slip in a pocket. When inspiration strikes, just slip it out, aim in the general direction, & shoot. The ruggedness of the magnesium body is a plus!

Unless you find a smoking good deal on an S90, I would consider looking @ one of its' successors; the S95, S100, or the newly released S110.

    pics? yes
ride? well, not so much... :bluduh

trying to get a very long story short:

still waiting for the clutch lever for the F650. I am a cheap ass and went aftermarket: back-order got back-ordered :umph - guess I gotta order the real part after all

so, last week I fixed the throttle issue on the DRZ... at least I think it's fixed. The keyword is: "I think". I don't really know, since the bike didn't start. :bluduh

Today I tried again... nothing. Did some more fuzzing around, and some more maintenance...... and..... ooops!!!
Himmiherrgottkruzefiznomalnei verdammte Scheisse :baldy (aka dammit :lol3)

my "oops" had something to do with an object inside the oil-filled frame :eek1

I tried the snake, over and over, drained the oil, removed a bunch of shit, poked, snaked, blew compressed air up, nothing..... :becca

so I called in the "mechanics" - but they are no help either :lol3

he thinks the starting troubles have something to do with fuel delivery - he may be on to something...

all I could think off is, that the gravity is working against me (just like on my... nevermind :lol3).

laying it down on flat ground didn't help, but luckily we life in the mountains: :norton

worked like a charm :clap - I got the damn hose!

and it turns out the bike is light enough to lay down downhill and pick it up w/o any trouble (without the tank )... just practicing for the next ride :lol3

That's pretty clever, Silke! I've figured out lots of unorthodox fixes to various problems over the years - but I would never think of that on my own.
