S1Marks and Blz-Bob met up at Colemans for a nice winter ride on Sunday. Although it was misty at times, about half the time it was dry. Not bad. Mark led up into the clouds past Kening Campground and we ended up over near the Nehalem river.

On thing I'm realizing that's extra nice on cold winter dual-sport days, is a nice warm lunch. So we hit the Big Wave Care in Nehalem. Where Mark ordered one of the biggest burgers I've ever seen!

We busted up some more roads along a different fork on the Nehalem and managed to time it just right to make it home before dark (barely). Another nice adventure in the dark woods.

I'm sure there is a view in there somewhere

Blz-Bob fighting the for eyesight. Did great considering the mist was messin with his vision half the day.

I really need to stop at more places other than clear cuts, but the climbs up to them are so much fun!

Gonna check out the Bike show next weekend, then I have a 10 days off over Christmas and no significant plans...so might as well ride a few days. Hope to see some of you guys over the holidays.

PS - Missed LoudAl, our unofficial official PDX-Offroad Photographer! Hope that last ride didn't have any "lasting effects"!

If you don't get any takers for off-road, I'd be up for a street ride on Saturday...

That low snow level doesn't look encouraging. Been wanting to take out my new to me Orange Toy also - haven't even had a chance to do a shake down run yet!

Yes, Saturday sounds good. Where to ride without too much frozen stuff in the way? Wish I had a bike to rage the dunes.

I'm a little surprised. I hadn't been out on the dirt bike for months, so on Sunday I went over to the Nat'l Forest lands south of Sand Lake Road, on that little "pass" between Hwy 101 and Sand Lake. Bombed around on Forest roads (that they seem determined to abandon) for an hour or so and had a blast.

It's not very high there, and I started hitting light snow just a couple hundred feet higher than that pass. Diamond Mill is much further in-land, so it will have been colder there...

    Congrats on the new bike!

there's a gut at TT who went last weekend. 1000' is kinda the cutoff, but i'm okay with farting around on forest roads and whatever trails are lower elevation.

what's the intel on sand lake? i wanna practice my dakar styleee one of these days. assuming a weekday is my best bet?
