Please forgive my ignorance but I do not understand what exactly the mod is. Can someone clue me in please?

Stock is no washer which translates to the clip popping out of the mount when unbailed resulting in it falling down into the bucket and generating explicit vocabulary.

Thanks. I'll look into doing the mod but since mine broke and was fixed under warranty I'm really timid about messing with it. That plastic seems to be made of Mexican pottery.

It is pretty well known that the H7 runs hotter than average and burns out faster. Did it in my car too. Using PIAA or other "brighter" bulbs only makes them go faster.

I used HID for 30K miles on my GS with zero issues. I will do it on this one as well.

Here is a little variation on the washer mod for the clip. When I installed my HID's I made a simple hinge out of some aluminum flashing material.
I did not take pictures when I did the hid install so I just made this up to illustrate what I did. Cut out a piece of alum flashing a little over an inch
long and just wide enough to fit inside that clip. bend it in half around the clip and punch a hole through for the screw. You will never fumble with that
clip again trying to get it to latch.

It took me longer to figure out what "lampf" was that to change the light. :lol3:lol3 Two days and than 10 minutes to change the light. No issues with the clip.

agreed - and moving to HID on my 2010 pig was quite likely the single most beneficial upgrade/farkle I've done to the bike.

If I'd done the HID upgrade (both lamps) prior to purchasing and installing the Denali d2's, I most likely wouldn't have sprung for additional front end lampage. Sorry ... thread hi-jack mode - now OFF ....

resume normal service now please ...............

.... by the way - excellent picture Desert Skies. Kudos for sharing the solution - and such a clear and detailed shot of same. I can only imagine how stupidly difficult it would be to get a camera down in there.

    - and it wouldn't be right not to say 'nice one' - to DSY - for the TAB SWIVEL solution too.... :clap

    Genius !!

Now the debate is whether to do the Dsy mod or wait 'till I can get an official Touratech clip. :lol3

Touratech could get DSY to make these for them - then they'd paint them yellow - call them a hard part - and charge about 45 bucks a pop!

What's amazing is so many people suffer from this design flaw and they tolerate third party solutions. Sure it's the right fix vs a $500 plus installation bill, but I personally prefer not to have to jury rig fix a design flaw.

IMO, BMW should be recalling / warranty repairing anyone with this issue.

I do thank BMW for warranty fixing mine. Perhaps they are now starting to offer this when it's asked for. Check with your BMW dealer.
