I think the idea on the knob is that you reach across with left hand...would be at a much better angle it seems to me doing so on that side vs. the left side, but who knows. At the Long Beach Show I was told absolutely the LED has been approved for US. Did they tell you at the show that the first batch wouldn't have LEDs or are you just speculating? That would be a bummer as it's a feature I'd like and I'm near the top of the list at my dealer.
Just received from BMW Australia "Wasserboxer...be the first to ride it! Hi Brian, As a BMW Safari subscriber we wanted you to be the first to know about some exciting news for the TS Safari this year. Riders on this years BMW TS Safari will be treated to some special offers that any BMW fan would love to be a part of. On Saturday 23rd February following the TS Safari, 20 lucky riders will be offered a test ride on the highly anticipated 2013 R 1200 GS Wasser Boxer and also the yet to be launched F 800 GT will be available to ride for a select few. Interested TSers just need to grab a raffle ticket during the event and winners will be selected randomly through the week. These lucky few Safari riders will be the first people in the country to ride these new models." Pity I'm not going on the Safari
You're Gary Nixon, risen from the grave, or one of the girls :huh Oh, nevermind...I get it, sammich ;-)
Maybe there's an embargo on press reports, maybe not. But it sure seems like there's a strange quiet in the land of Wonderlich, Touratech, Twisted Throttle, J-Peg, Altrider, Hornig, Staintune, Remus, Saddleman, Russell, Corbin, Sargent, etc. regarding their upcoming farks for the Water Cooled Boxer. I've got to assume they're all working feverishly to be ready for the avalanche of orders. Anybody heard a peep?
Sat on a new GS today. I'm sure I'd like one. I like the option of cruise control vs. using throttle locks. i wish I could have powered it up to try out the spinning knob on the left handlebar--kind of like iDrive in a BMW car, I'm guessing.
Well, my last order of TT goodies which came in 2 weeks ago came with a Touratech Travel Time magazine labeled 2012/2013 on the front. It talks about the New Gear arrivals for 2013 and has a write-up stating, and I quoteth from the book of Touratech, chapter 1, verse 3, "The many different accessories for the new water-cooled GS are included in the new Touratech catalog, which will be available from January 2013. They can also be ordered from the web shop at shop.touratech.com."
Same here, same show I think. Worked the clutch and gear lever, everything very smooth. The gear lever didn't seem to have any play in it and the first and second went in like butter. I also like that knob that adjusts the windshield and the handlebar controls. Lots of room on this bike if you're 6'7.
Hmmm, with the heads rotated 90 degrees on the new bike will I still be able to do this on cold rides?
