I did the full Remus exhaust. Removed the header and the can. Never found adequate feedback on this- so here's my 2 cents... Cost me $1200. Had to grind down one of my radiator crash bar connections where they bolted together- just took a little off, don't think it will affect their integrity. Have to put 1/2" extensions on the bolts for the skid plate. Performance wise: It took care of the power lag off the line. I can wheelie it now with little effort- so it's an obvious increase in power. I haven't taken it for a long ride yet- so haven't seen how it throws off heat- but the old pipe really bothered me with how hot it got. The bike definitely has a deeper tone now, but not too annoying... Depending on what you want from your bike- this mod is not for everyone... I'm happy with it though. I've also up-graded fork springs (a mandatory mod in my book if you are off-roading). Cheers
I did the full Remus exhaust as well. I have the triple black so in addition I got the header ceramic coated black. Looks nice but the added benefit is ceramic coating on the inside reduces the heat on the pipes. It is transfered through the exhaust gasses.
As most protection mods like bash plate and crash bars won't allow for the remus exhaust I'm thinking that I'm going to my local high end muffler shop and having them cut the cat off and run straight piping through. Any ideas on this thought?
Black dog cycle works bash plate works with the remus exhaust. http://blackdogcw.com/black-dog-sho...dcw-skid-plate-for-the-bmw-f800gs-detail.html
Now this looks expensive and interesting.... How does the mpg of the bike gets effected? Do you burn more fuel? (Over here a litre of fuel is 2.71USD per litre da most expensive !!!!!) Regards
s Improvement? You mean you burn less fuell now? If that is the case, this maybe a good modification to execute. Regard
what a mighty homo sapiens! for 1-3 mpg ... a MUCH more benzene, CO, NO2 everywhere... For lungs, with love.
Just look at how many miles you can do for 1000 bucks. I think that you'll sell the bike before you can reach that kind of mileage
The guy at Remus told me I'd see a a small increase in mpg, I'll tell you how that goes after doing a long ride with my friend who has the exact same bike with the catalytic converter on.
Hey Petzl, Do you have a pic of yours ceramic coated black- I really like that idea- I want to ceramic coat the header on my dirtbike to cut down on the heat- maybe I'll do both...
What was the weight savings. Remus says 13kg stock header and theirs is 6kg - that would be a saving of 7kg or 15.5Lb - worth the mod in my books. But these numbers seem extreme - what did you notice?
indeed. Then do a lightweight battery and you should be sitting at anot 10kg weight saving. Wouldn't call that insignificant. id guess the biggest saving is actually from the cat not the muffler and headers though.
Slap some crash bars on...fog lights...aluminum cans...new footpegs...upgraded suspsension...skidplate...topcase...Woody's Wheels... Add back another 25kg. Oh, and 10kg more for the spare tire around my waist.
Not so sure about how you do it, but when I upgraded my foot pegs, suspension and wheels I REPLACE THEM, not simply add them, so not sure how it increases weight by replacing with lighter, better components. However, I totally agree with the spare tire comment. I know I need to lighten "my frame" by at least 10 kilos. OP All who wander are not lost.
