You'll need to use the adhesive mounting plate. Also, to get it to adhere properly, you need to use one of the 3M adhesion promoter pads (we have them for US $2.00), to insure that the mounting plate will stick. If you do it Sena's way, it'll fall off, our way, and it'll stay stuck.
Nice review on the Sena SMH10 here: http://www.gizmag.com/sena-smh10-bluetooth-intercom-stereo-review/25269/
maybe you folks can save me a few minutes searchng. My buddy finally decided to get a SMH10. Where's the best price out there?
Here's the way I mounted mu Sena. No more clamp in the way, and fits closer than the pad 5g Sugru On the plate cleaned up Can be removed if needed
Buy from RocketMoto! If there is a better price out there than the one Adam (the RocketMoto head honcho) offers to ADVRiders I haven't seen it, and Adam knows everything there is to know about these things and gives world-class support when needed! http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=573145
I bought a dual system in 2010 before my better half and I did a 3 month tour of Europe later that year. From the start, we had issues with rider to pillion connectivity, which never went away. Despite resetting to default then starting from scratch again, the system kept letting us down. We could have good comms for a day or 2 then for no reason, we would have nothing. I never had any issue at all with communicating via Bluetooth with the zumo 550 or even listening to music, but when you are touring through the Dolomites and the scenery goes from stunning to more stunning, it is very frustrating losing commas. Just my experience. Cheers.
After buying the headset and the thing that sends the XM signal to the headset, I decided I like the old J&M system better. I'll have the all but new headset and the other thing that was never mounted and only charged once for sale. I guess as I age, I'm turning into a luddite.
Anyone have their music player paired over the media channel pairing and phone paired over the phone only pairing? I have found that when I get a phone call through my phone that my music will pause like it's suppose to. When my phone call finishes the Sena will switch back to the music player. Yet I have no music. When I check it the player shows it is disconnected. I go to reconnect them and they Sena doesn't seem to ever know it was gone. I can tell because I will try to unpause the music and the Sena works like it's still connected when it's not. Has anyone had this issue? The music player is the Samsung Galaxy 3.6 and the phone is the DuraXT.
Got the new "dual pack" Sena 10 and the additional clip on clamp for in-ear buds. Hooked up one to my wife's HJC open face and the other version to my Shoei Qwest in no time and they really work great. I am running mine through my Zumo 665. I-phone works, inter-com works and most importantly I can stream MP3 music through my Zumo into the Sena and into my Shure ear-buds. The simple tap of the jog button to activate the intercom is super efficient and waaayyyy better that than the Scala rider ( G4) I have had for 2 years. So far I am a happy customer. More to follow but day one and I think its a great set up.
I'm curious to know how these units perform at highway speeds of around 70 or so. Specifically how well do the head sets work or for those of you using the ear bud option, how is that working out. I'm thinking about buying a set for my riding buddy and I, but our previous experience with communication has been less than stellar. We've not had much success above about 40 MPH.
My experience: With custom molded ear speakers they work great in all conditions. With off the shelf, pretty well. The custom molded units do blank out a lot of road noise and surrounding noise, so may not be good if a car is behind you with flashing lights and sirens going. Not strictly legal to drive within ear speakers in all areas of US.
If hearing the audio is a concern, earbuds should remove 100% of the problem. I have no trouble hearing GPS or intercom with the OEM speakers supplied with the Sena SMH-10 at speeds of 60, 70, or even a little higher, unless there are other factors involved, such as buffeting or major gusts or heavy rain. And that's with foam ear protectors in place. Of more concern is how much wind noise the mic picks up. This is so dependent on individual helmet and gear configurations (even small changes like how far up my jacket is zipped make a difference) that it's hard to generalize. But I find that if my mic is tucked in nicely inside my Shoei full-coverage helmet and properly positioned relative to my mouth, others have no problem hearing me on intercom. But if you have a naked bike, open face helmet and loud pipes [g], I can't say how well any of this would work. The one place my setup fails at speeds much over 55 is voice dialing, which requires low background noise to work. But I rarely use the phone while moving. -dan
