I am looking at one of these for my Transalp based adv bike.
I have a question, So the ABS dash seems to bolt to the top triple using the handlebar riser mount bolts like in this picture
    below.

My question is, Is the ABS being compressed between the upper triple and the circular spacer on the bar riser?
Wont the ABS compress leaving slight looseness in the handlebar mount?

Also, How much does the Lynx weigh with single HID?

    Thanks

My generic kit Lynx has been on for 2 years now, and I have never had to re-torque the riser mount nuts. The ABS is extremely dense and hasn't cracked in 2 years. Great product, very tough.

Lynx weighs about 5 lbs all in.

The ABS dash has never given problems with handlebar loosening over these past 5 years. However, some risers have a 'cup' arrangement to accommodate anti vibe rubber washers and in this instance, we include large fender washers to spread the load and avoid the edges of the risers digging into the ABS.

Well, progress has been interupted a bit because we are working on a new Lynx which will be available in Feb. I'll then get back onto creating a GS version of the new Lynx.

Most of the changes to the Lynx are small and really constitute improvements to any 'niggles' we have had over the past few years. The existing molds have pretty much done there time now, so the Lynx gets an updated 'look' as well.

I can't remember if I mentioned it before, but a preliminary look at the GS lead me to think that the GS model will probably involve the removal of the complete OEM unit including the instruments, so it will be stripped back to the forks and triples and we'll go from there.

    Cheers Ian

Nice photo !:clap and I see you have given it the 'Dakar' look where the screen goes. That 610 really should have a nice colourmatched blue Lynx on it !!

    Cheers Ian

Yes, we did discuss the instrument removal. All fine with me, the dash should accomodate a road book and an ICO plus the Zumo I figure but very interested to see how it all comes together from your end. As long as it mated up pretty well to the existing bodywork there should be lots of interest as there's a lot of these bikes on the road and they need a new look.

Haven't got a photo yet, but will have something for you next week. My view of whether it's worth waiting for is this : If you are getting a Lynx to do a specific trip and need to get it on soon, then I wouldn't wait for the new one, but if you have no important riding plans for the next month, I would wait. Did you get my email with the photos of the dashboards etc ?

    Cheers

    Ian

I was just about to 'launch' into detail on the new Lynx and post up a couple of photos BUT I don't seem to be able to upload the photos. Being over 50 is why I don't know how to solve this, but in the meantime just email me britanniacomposites@shaw.ca and I'll get the photos off to you. The new one will start going out in about 2 weeks.:clap

    Cheers Ian

Having got the new Lynx and Mirage 3 done, I'm searching for a 'donor' GS locally to get going on that version of the Lynx.
