Does anyone know if theres a bus or shuttle service from San Diego to Ensenada or the best way to get to Ensenada from the San Diego Airport, I get into SD in the AM on the 13th any suggestion would be appreciated Dave
Call me (pm me) if you get closer and don't figure something out. A friend of mine will be chasing in my truck and could pick you up maybe a day before. Alternatives include: Mentioned by frog. Take the bus and trolley system to the Otay border and take a cab to my place where my friend can take you down south.
Thanks beechum and Baja Dad, I get in to SD airport with an buddy at 9:37 am,on the Nov 13th, I'll take any help from fellow racers if it works out for you guys or Frogs info is always a last resort. Also Beecum can a guy buy prepaid phones that work fairly well down the peninsula for international calling? My ATT worked great but I'm on Verizon now which is no so bueno Dave
I'd recommend a GSM phone and buy a telcel card when you get down there for local calls and some SHORT international calls. with my sprint phone I get free google voice integration which I can use data to get voicemails and send and recieve texts. for the duration you're going to be down there (if it's only a few days) use a telcel card, load it with 300 pesos (~25$) and you'll likely get 300 pesos "regalado." That's quite a bit of data for one week and you can do emails and such and texting if you have to INTL. V voice calls, any way you do it, are cheap-ish, but can add up pretty quick.
Beechum when you cross the border, how far away are the buses? are they right there at the border crossing or do you need to that a taxi to the bus depot? thanks Dave
If you take a cab from the SD airport to the American Plaza (across from the Santa Fe train station, maybe 3 miles away) you can take the trolley to the border (San Ysidro). Costs just a few bucks. Schedule here: http://www.sdmts.com/mtscr/TrolleyTT.aspx?r=510&d=South If you get hung up for some reason I work across the street, send me a PM.
cab will cost about 20$. Trolley is 5$. OR, you can take the bus from the airport to the trolley. about 1.5 hours depending, and the same 5$ (day pass for all san diego) available on the bus as you get on.
looks Like bus 992 will get me to American Plaza and then the Trolley to the Border thanks beechum and Gregg
i'm planning on crossing on foot on tuesday morning, the 13th and cabbing it into ensenada. could split a cab in san diego for $275 for up to four people. just a thought.
Sorry no not yet. He's waiting on someone else to make some decisions before we know what his plans are.
