I have a couple of boxes ready to ship and more in the works. This one I mounted on the bike to check clearances, so it'll come with mounting holes already drilled. Have another undrilled box ready to go.

Some have asked about sealing the boxes. When they are assembled, the joints are sealed. The boxes are pretty water tight, but the door and hinge are not. Some have used gaskets or seals. I use a tool roll and water hasn't been an issue.

Aluminum is .050" stock, makes for a nice solid box. Rivets are stainless steel.

Price still $120 for the box, $4 to paypal if you use that, and $15 flat rate shipping in USA total delivered then, is $139.

A few changes and improvements:

A timely buy at the local metals yard yielded a bit heavier aluminum stock.

I've switched from stainless steel pop rivets to solid aluminum aircraft rivets. The rivets are very secure and leakproof.

Finally, I located some "Harsh Environment" hinge material, and by bedding the hinge at install, we've got a pretty leak resistant/tight hinge now.

Some of you have added gasket material around the door. That, together with the solid rivets and sealed hinge makes for a fairly weathertight box.

This box fits the R1200GS/A with OEM panniers.

I'll have 6 boxes ready to go in about a week. Price unchanged...$120 for the box, $4 for paypal, $15 for shipping in USA.

Good looking tool box! Have you experimented/thought about having the access door on the rear of the box so it can be accessed without removing the cases?

I did experiment with a rear door, but the side door provides way better access and I thought that was more important than access without removing the pannier. There is a guy building a nice looking box with a rear door, so if you like that option, it's available from Europe.

I think the side door is the way to go. I have one of the "boxes from Europe" and the rear door ends up being very awkward to get anything in and out of the box. My tool roll is too thick to fit without removing tools, and my hand doesn't fit easily into the box to dig things out.

For what it's worth, I'd rather take the side case off and have better access (and better security, likely).

Very easy installation. I just drilled the 3/16" holes in the two bottom tabs of my pannier rack, then drew dots through those holes on the toolbox tab and drilled those. Installation time was maybe 15 min. Yes, your mudguard will interfere with this set up but like they say, take it off or break it off. No, this set up will NOT interfere with the rear brake bleeder valve. I tried to capture that in the photos. Looking from behind, you'll see if the suspension were to travel that high, the valve would miss the toolbox to the left.

I fit my tool roll, air pump, patch kit, CO2 kit, plug kit, air pressure gauge. It holds a lot of stuff.

A good idea might be to emboss the aluminum with your logo. Get a stamp made or something.

I posted a pic of my new ADVgear toolbox on a r1200gsa fb forum and a guy said the other "european" box with the rear door won't fit the Cruz tool kit roll through it. Interesting.

I have a 2010 F650GS with a Tourtech aluminum bag set-up. I would like to share some modifications with you to see if one could be made for my bike. Could I communicate these changes to have this fit my bike? It appears the changes would be minimal.
