    All Righty Then!
Here in "The Mountains of the East" there are numerous small communities one of which is a little hamlet known as "Springs, PA". According to Google maps it is 3.3 miles due north of Grantsville, MD [old rt 40]. and 1.0 mile over the state line into Pennsylvania. I'm going to do some more research on this town, but it is probably 3/4 of a mile from one end of town to another, and I'd guess several hundred families live there, but it's got a lot of class! .... more to come be back in a moment!

Ok 2000 Census says there are 60 households with a total population of 189! Great little town! My curiosity was peaked because though this community was relatively small in nature, They had one of the most well organized, and developed fall festivals I'd ever seen, called the "55th Annual Springs Folk Festival". Many communities around these parts have these events annually around this same time every year, and they all vary in name, size and scope. Springs did it well. No I mean Very Well! As usual I took a lot of pictures, but this time I found myself fascinated by the people! It was one of the most eclectic gatherings around. Well here we go.

It wouldn't be a Folk Festival unless there where crafts!

    More than ample parking.
There was a church on the main drag with at least 15 motorcycles parked in front of it. Wish I'd had a picture of that

beautiful historical settings everywhere you turn.

But like I said they did it well. It was all about the people!
Folks from all walks of life! I was totally immersed in it.

Some folks where dressed in period costumes and some folks where just "styln and profiln"!

Well, even tho hunting season is in I just didn't feel like doing any.
It was too warm, so I did some riding.

This is a county road, turned quad path by the recent storm.
It's only been cleared enough to get a quad or bike thru. I saw more than a little bit of this today.

And even tho it's been warm, still some snow in the high country.

Not many pictures today, as just had my phone with me.
This is at the top of Lantz Ridge, it's Mt Olivet church. Took this picture from my Grandmother's final resting place.
I hadn't been by there for a while, so I stopped for a bit.

One of the prettiest and most peaceful spots I know of here in our Mountains of the East.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

I call it the "Deep Creek end of Winter Ride"!

43 miles West of Cumberland, and about an hours drive on old rt 40 and there you are.
Deep Creek Lake is the largest inland body of water in the state of Maryland. It covers approximately 3,900 acres (16 km2) and has 69 miles (111 km) of shoreline.[1] Like all lakes in Maryland, it is man-made.[2] The lake is home to a wide variety of freshwater fish and aquatic birds. The Wisp ski resort is located nearby.[3] This resort is home to a thriving winter tourism industry and has expanded its offerings to include some summer activities as well. Fishing is extremely popular on the lake, for species such as largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and walleye. Recreational boating is popular in the summertime as well.

and the ride is always better with friends.

and the right ride makes all the difference!

and the view is the icing on the cake!

and every once and a while I actually get in the picture

    Well Gene,

Officially, got a trip planned in the next couple of weeks. Bought a truck in Idaho.:deal I am planning on a 10 day trip to bike out with my wife and trailer the bike back. I figure a few stops here, there, Yellow Stone, and back.

Really stoked! to get Karen out on the bike for a good sound tour. Preping in progress.

So does that mean I will have to start a new thread.:cry
