2013 Husqvarna 650 Terra

Used HiFlo and Rotella for years on several bikes, not the place for this garbage.

Back on track, how many miles are on the Husky BigDog? I looked at some larger ADV bikes this weekend and I can not justify the pricetag, so I am back to looking at new/reliable dual sports and the Italian KLR sounds very promising, just wish Hall's was closer than 4 hours away

Yeah I only took my 08 610 in once after I bought it used to get it tuned. Turns out the water temp sensor liked to go bad in it. Replaced it twice so the trip wasn't really needed. Good excuse to eat a horseshoe at D'arcy's tho

You can also cut small lengths off your neighbours garden hose.

It's not a tank bag it goes on the rear seat (see above). I saw one fitted to a bike last week it's about full face helmet size but to be honest it seemed a little flimsy for ADV use. I suspect it's more designed for Strada owners but I guess only time will tell how well they would hold up.

There is a much better brochure available on the Australian web site. The bag is described as a soft top case.

I reckon Stephan at Scheffelmeier Metall will be making things pretty quickly for this Husky. A few things will already fit I would think.

Speaking of Stradas...............

Picked this one up at Atlanta BMW yesterday, they just got it in the day before. Took a test ride and compared to my past KLR650 and G650GS, liked it a lot more. Much more mechanically refined, faster, more comfortable.

I like the cast wheels (Tubeless Tires) and sits a little lower than the Terra, easier on the old hips.

Perfect for all the fire and forrest roads up here.

I pick up my Terra from them today

Pull apart a Hi-Flo and put the bypass spring on a tensiometer. Compare the spring rate to other filters. If one uses a low tension spring in a filter, there's more oil bypassing the filter element than going through it. Hence, Hi-Flo.

Since some have already gotten their panties in a wad, PM me, for further discussion.

I don't think anyone here cares to discuss oil filters anymore than they want to chat politics to a stripper.

What kind of tires should be used on these bikes?

Obviously solid tires.

Hi Mark, Some time ago I emailed you a GPS track showing a route up the east side of Harrison Lake, over Kookipi Pass and up the west side of the Fraser River. I am very interested in getting a Terra and would be interested to hear your opinion about how the Terra would make out on that route with an experienced rider on board. Would it be a piece of cake or a bit of a struggle, or some where in between.

I dont know how to search this thread for the phrase "fuel capacity" but I'm pretty sure it's been mentioned previously - and it doesn't carry much compared to other ^600cc DS's at 3.6 gallons. Even at 55 MPG, you'll most likely want to fill up right before you hit the dirt.

I checked one out at the dealership in Woodinville. I love the bike, but the fuel capacity issure is the thing that gave me pause.

Can we rename this one TR650 Terra/Strada instead?

The difference between the two is basically wheels, rake, and ABS. 99% of the discussion will be identical. That said, black is faster.

3.57 gallons of premium. I've seen 49.6 avg the first 1300 miles on 95% pavement. So about 175 miles before you start pushing.

3.7 US Gallons, about an easy 200 mile range.

They have that German knobby for the Strada and the Terra as well. I am not a hard core single track rider so the Strada will be perfect for me.

I can't see why the shifter would not physically fit it's the same engine so presumably it has the same spline on the shaft. The only issue would be whether the relationship between the shaft location and the foot pegs is the same on the BMW and Husky.
