just found out i can go grab a copy at the printer (next town over from me) on tuesday. :D

seems it won't get picked up by our company truck until after that. so outside of the printers them self, i'm the 1st person to see a hard copy in the US :evil stoked for this BDR for sure!

I have Delorme Topo North America. Any pointers on how to get AZBDR into it? I got CO into it and forgot how.

inna, congrats on the touratec article, i enjoyed reading it.

as for the azbdr,,, it looks like a great route for visitors, as its intended, as a local i am less excited about it. maybe its because ive ridden almost all of it more than a couple times, maybe i think its too much pavement. maybe i think the riding is too easy even though the scenery is great, i dunno.

i would have chosen a few different areas, roads and sections, but again, thats me and i dont ride a loaded touring bike so i'm in a slightly different mind set on what i want in a ride.

having said that, it is a great route, and it showcases the diversity this state offers pretty well.

for that my hat is off to all of you that made it happen.

i assume your software accepts/imports .gpx files
or maybe you used GpsBabel to change it to a Delorme file format?

thanks! indeed the route was chosen for large adv bikes loaded with camping gear and thus "easier" but still a challenge in places.

yes a solid rider on a light plated bike might find it too easy.
ride it and let us know how the whole package of a route came together.
it really does highlight all the zones that AZ has to offer & that was the goal.

it's also designed to continue on with the UTBDR northwards and this summer we ride the IDBDR for a Mexico to Canada route by 2015.
we have big goals with our BDRs beyond just riding a single state alone.

yessir i am well aware, and i think its pretty dang awesome!!!

so, really one could make a giant loop running the bdr one way and the conti divide back with a heart of the west loop thrown in for goo measure,,, and if your on the east side of the country ride the trans am trail out here,,,, wow.

I am really excited for the AZBDR. I want to ride this route first and then in a few years do the CDT. I will be at GoAZ on the 8th to watch the screening.

indeed. our long term goal is to have all these BDR and people connect them how they want.

one idea is ride up the AZBDR then up the UTBDR then over to the COBDR and down it to the 4 corners and then down the New Mexico part of the CDR.
    http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=763745

since we ride the IDBDR this summer, 2015 would be AZBDR > UTBDR > IDBDR > down CDR back to border. Epic!

OR the GWT south back to AZ:
    http://www.advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=23349053&postcount=39
...and then back up the CDR after that :eek1:eek1:eek1:eek1

    S. Border > AZBDR > UTBDR >IDBDR > N. Border > GWT > S. Border > CDR > N. Border
that would have to be one the best USA ADV rides of all time and maybe more epic than the TAT.

oh yeah, the dirt routes along all those rivers & canyons are epic.

i've ridden alot of ID and I did the dirt road layer on our ID state map, so i'm very familiar with the possibilities. that is gonna be another amazing BDR and then having a Mexico - Canada BDR route possibility is over the top for us.
