Jeez. I might buy the Badlands just because of the integrated kidney belt. That's the only thing I miss about the ADV jacket
Should I take that to mean you still ride with a leather helmet (or none at all), shun disc brakes with equal disdain, and you motorbike is equipped with a hand shifter? Granted, not everyone wants to or needs to wear a neck brace but to write them off because they didn't exist when you entered the sport is taking a simplified view of a significant safety enhancement.
OK... so for you KLIM specialists... I'm wanting to finally upgrade my MSR jacket and have had my eye on the KLIM products... Which one would you all recommend using with a pressure suit underneath?? I don't think the internal armor of any jacket stands up to a hard fall in the rocks like a pressure suit with hard plastic does... and has. I always wear one under my current jacket... but it needs replacement. So for mostly off road enduro riding... 80/20 split which KLIM jacket would you choose??
Traverse shell if you are wearing a pressure suit under... Light as - Very flexible - breaths well enough. Greg.
I was looking to get the TRAVERSE jacket, but in order to fit over my Alpinestar Bionic 2 Pressure suit (elbow armor in particular), I would have to get a size MUCH larger than normal. Of course, that means it won't fit at all, except the elbows. Make sure you are wearing the pressure suit when you are shopping.
Just got off the phone with my friend who is at the BMWMOA Rally. He was standing at the Klim booth and asked when the Badlands pants were coming out and how much. The rep said they would be out in Oct. and would cost $660, not $590. My friend said they looked really nice.
Not the news I was hoping for but still cheap compared to the Rally Adventure, or anything comparable from either Rukka, Stadler or BMW and none of those three checks the boxes on the wish list as well as the Badlands. Guess I have to wait a bit longer and dig a little deeper.
Put $100 down on a suit at MOA Rally - 10% discount, no tax. and free shipping Rep told me they were toning down the logos where both the "K" and KLIM were they will only have one, not both, pieces of branding. I can live with this. The thought that went into the two pieces is incredible. You can tell they were designed by riders for riders. I cannot wait until late Oct/November
I often use a black permanant marker to black out loud logos. I hope Klim does tone down their logos as the rugged and feature rich suits will speak for Klim - - as well as the riders wearing them. My badlands suit is on order.
FYI, If you want a huge discount on Klim and other gear... you can donate to Neduro's Dakar effort!! LINK And here: http://neduro.com/collections/become-a-supporter Does not take long to figure out how you can come out ahead if you purchase from just 2 of his sponsors using the discounts.
Have been riding the same Firstgear Kilimanjaro for 11 years now and need some new digs .. Was just about to pull the trigger on a Rallye 3 suit cuz I think it will fit the bill of my riding style.. in the south east here I think it will work fine problem is in 2 or 3 months Im moving back to Alaska and dont really like the drop waterproof liners in that frequent rainy environment. I think Im gonna wait a bit cuz I believe the badlands will fit the bill way better for me in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1:State><st1lace>Alaska</st1lace></st1:State> .. I dont care for all the logos either but it aint really a deal breaker.. patiently waiting for Anthony to post a video so we can get a better look <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o> </o> Cheers Bill
Hey Bill, Thanks for the nod. 8/15 they come back online. Word on the street is that the logos have been reigned in a bit on the production versions. We had access to the pre-production models. Thanks, Anthony
