Having a weird issue. The bike cranks fine, no problems with cold start, idles pretty good around 1900rpm and dont really notice a problem with throttle response.
HOWEVER, after riding for a few minutes if I come to a stop and idle at the light for eg. it slowly dies :huh.

Im at 450ft elevation and the adjustment screw on the carb is set around 2 1/2 turns. Stock motor and exhaust. Although I did put in a K&N filter in the stock airbox.

Any idea what I should be looking at?

I would check and clean the carburetor as a start, while your at you can file the tab off the air screw and step up in size your pilot and main jets to deal with the lean condition you most likely have created.

If you have a FCR carb and it dont have a brass jet in left hole on airbox side you will NEVER get it right!

You grind the ribs off the carb inlet and the Noss slides right on,,then either use silicone or do what i did and JB WELD it on...i like it solid:lol3

Gotta be carefull to not plug off the 2 holes in either piece though..i had it on and done in 5 minutes:clap

Same here. Ground off the one rib. Applied the JB Weld and slid on the NOSS. Scrapped the excess JB off. Clean as a whistle.

Are you running the 8 heat range plug on the highway? If yes try the 9. I had same stalling problem you describe and the correct heat range plug fixed it.

    Installed the FMF Q

Now I have de-smog, snorkel gone, uni-filter, dave's mods, 55/158 jets and about 1,500' elevation.
Started the bike and maybe I didn't warm it up enough (how much is enough?) but after a minute of half choke when the rev's started to die down, I fully (un)chocked and ran for another minute and then rev'd the engine a few times. A faster crack of the throttle had it cough and pop. Normal?

I believe I am. I'll try swapping in a new 9 plug tomorrow and see if that helps.
I got the mixture kindof tuned to the point where its not bogging, idling rough or dying anymore when I come to a stop. But, if im going anything over 40mph and pull the clutch in and try to coast with the motor idling it dies :muutt . No problem bringing it back to life letting the clutch go though. Lets see if the plug helps. Thanks! :clap

My fuel screw is fixed or basically sealed. I can't get at it. There is a brass plug and that's it.
I can try 52/155 I guess. Not allot of fun pulling that carb.
