I dropped off the rear wheel of my R1150RT at my buddy's motorcycle shop today, Midway Cycle in Madison, AL and took a look at his new KTM line. While the 1190 was gorgeous, I fell in love with the 990 Baja. I'm currently riding an 1150RT and a R100GS but this 990 seems to do what both of them do, better than either of them do it. Drool. :eek1

    Yes. Yes it does.
You must buy it, or forever dream about what could have been.

I met a guy riding a 990 Baja recently and was very impressed by the bike. However, I really don't see how you are comparing it to an RT. How do you think it compares ?

I don't do much touring, not because I don't want to, but because I don't have the opportunity. So I mostly commute on my bikes. I am gearing up for some adventure riding on the GS. This 990 would do what I do better than either of what I have now, plus some light offroad for good measure. So no, different class than an RT but I'm not using the RT for the T.

How much are you guys paying for your new 990's? The sticker on this one is $14,8K. I will admit, that does seen like a lot.

I looked at one at Max Motorsports in Pelham, Al a couple of months ago. It was around $13,990. You could probably get it for less.

A brand new 2013 was under $14k? Well I guess they are about a year old.

In Colorado you're hard pressed to find one period. In June I paid $13,700 for a used 2013 with 530 miles on it from a guy who turned down plenty of fly and ride offers. He had paid MSRP of $14,900 in mid-May.

No one in my state had them. I got a local dealer to source one out of state. Called them today and they said it should be here Monday if it gets on the truck today. Price before shipping, tax, title, etc, was below $13,800. I'm pretty happy with that. Heck, I'm pretty happy to find a new one this late in the year.

This will be my first Adventure bike. I've been drooling for more than 3 years, researching, waiting, deciding what I want. That day is finally here. :clap
