Bummer, Jeff..... feel better man. Watch On Any Sunday..... it'll make you feel better! I was riding to work today and I had just pulled out onto the street and I was shifting into third gear when the KTM died right in front of the cop that was sitting on the side of the road. I had enough momentum to get to the next block and its hilarious how noisy the tires are when the engine is off ; WHAA WHAA WHAAA WHHHAAAA WHAA WHAA he gave me the strangest look as I tried to restart as I went by. Turns out the gas was off Ill get used to this bike sooner or later.... good thing he didnt come to check on me - my headlight doesnt work, I dont have any mirrors on it..... its got a plate... AND a green sticker....
Pasta, Good luck with your Enduro. Not sure if this is a restart or not, but you will know right away how you stack up against your row mates. If they pull ahead of you, track em down, if you are ahead of them, track down the group in the minute ahead of you. You will have a blast. I doubt you will have "shadows" creeping in your helmet by the end of the race like me, as you likely ride fast enough. Doug
im super excited to try something different.... and since this is the first time Im trying two loops doing something thats not a flat out race will be perfect.... even though im sure it will turn out to be a flat out race...
hmmm i aint been around a long time but i'm pretty sure the qualifier formant is pretty much a flat out race ....good luck
It qualifies you to claim you are a stud. In the days of olde, it would be a qualifier for the ISDE, now it's only a name. Have you ever watched WRC? Same thing but on two wheels. Haul ass in the specials, ride briskly in the transfer sections.
This was an ISDE qualifier!? Thats awesome! I just wanna go out and have fun.......... ..... and pass lots of riders
The Idaho City 100 is not a qualifier for the ISDE this year because of the need to name the teams early. That won't make the race any easier or less competitve. Enduro, HH, GP, GNCC, WORCS... they are all races and you will race your way to the finish. I am no racer, but, I have yet to see the start of any of these that didn't result in flat out balls to the walls racing. You will have fun. (you don't have to race bar to bar in the transfer sections however. ) Have fun, keep us informed. Doug
the KaTOOM is getting fresh rubber on saturday morning and it will be ready to ROCK sunday morning! ran seven miles this morning..... supposed to rain saturday night.... this is going to be epic
Getting excited about this weekend and noticing that the thread has gotten about two thousand views in the last week or so..... they all cant be me, right? anyways, imma try to get a video out quicker this time!
I just found these from the 10k I ran two weeks ago..... my time was about 56 minutes which for me was not bad at all. there were at least a dozen photographers out there.... it was nuts. This was at the very end where I was trying to catch the guy with the two kids in a jogging stroller. I never caught him.... but I managed to finish in the top 15%.... which isnt bad. Got a half marathon in a few weeks - it will be my first. I now see the hideous irony of me wearing the Catalina GP shirt which kept me from running the other half marathon just a few weeks after the Catalina GP....
Love the arms in the air thing! Still loving the thread. Youre doing a lot more than me at the moment: My KTM is in pieces, need a new cylinder At least I now know why the bike didnt wanna go properly anymore.
Im not particualrly crazy about running either but it builds endurance, keeps my weight down and gives me another challange that I have never risen to; Marathon. At my size and weight, its a little tricky. WAYYYY easier for a 5'4 120 dood to run 26 miles.... a little tougher for a 6'3 220 guy. BUT.... if I was 210..... Raced the "Enduro" today. It was.... hmmm .... interesting. There were some problems in the race that prompted a restart but not after an hour or so of racing. I would have to say the riders were to blame as much as the club that put it on but more on that later. Ill start a vid tonight.... stay tuned.
I've run prolly a dozen Marathons. Its not that hard to do IF you find a good training program and stick to it. You think that running a Marathon is unique until you run the LA marathon with 40,000 other people........seriously.
Yeah quyen did a half last year and it was at least 40K people....I couldnt BELIEVE how many folks turned out for that thing! Or the fact that the winner did it in about 55 mins.
Had an interesting race....I think I rode as well as i ever have and Im pretty proud of that. I have no idea how to extract that information off of the card that came off of my fender though.... .... more on all that soon. oh and you guys will have a laugh for sure at my start.
