Nice pics and vid, HBN. I love the sound of that bike in the vid (Ol' Stinky?).

We went out for some tea in Middleburg, yesterday, hitting up some of the dirt and gravel roads there and back again.

I couldn't believe it was 63 degrees in February!

Have any of you ever encountered a melted dipstick?

I pulled it from the Rebel when giving it a good lookover this weekend and there was just a melted stub.

Engine shows no other signs that I can see of having majorly overheated, and the threads and outside portion of the plug are perfect. My current theory is that it was damaged outside of the bike or a police mechanic swapped the part with another bike somehow.

I am told by others that with these bikes if someone runs them without oil, you can see damage in the valve train with will discolor and become visibly damaged. Seems to me that running it without oil long enough to get it hot enough to MELT THE DIPSTICK would likely sieze the engine (which didn't happen).

Also, it seems like it might be worth doing a compression test to see if the internals are somehow fried. Do the mechanically inclined among you think that that would tell me something worthwhile?

Buying bikes that don't run is an adventure in itself. :lol3

Hey, anyone in NOVA ( near warrenton) have a '12 or '13 weestrom I can fondle?

I'm looking at getting one over the tiger 8, but don't have the time to get out to Romney cycles for a test ride. Coleman doesn't do demo's on them at last request. I really just want to get a good feel for it and some non-sales dude input.

PM me if you've got one and I could come out and check it out.

That would be awesome, thanks! I will send you a PM when it looks like we'll be able to take another look. We don't have a garage, so it's weather dependent.

I would like to suggest that you buy new tires for the bike.

I know you don't want to spend the money but if the bike has been sitting long enough to need all the fluids changed, the tires have hardened up from sitting.

Hard tires lead to loss of traction. Loss of traction leads to problems.

Anyone out there interested in buying a pair of Advent Legacy speakers?

These are 2 way speakers with 10" (refoamed) woofers. They sound and look great but I just can't use them.

+1 look closely in between the treads for cracking too. The harder the rubber become over time, the lower your coefficient of friction between road surface and tire.

So that's what all the slipping and sliding was all about! I thought it was just road grime... ;-)

Am I correct in believing that one of you FFs works for the VA??? If so, could you shoot me a PM, I have a question

And to whoever bought that BMW, don't worry about buying new tires. Just use some Armorall on them and you wont have to worry about any cracks in the rubber.
