I had a friend call me last friday and say he found a bike a guy was selling and that I may be interested in it.It was a 1981 KE 175 and the owner only wants $500 for it. My firend said hey saw it and it should be worth the $500 so I got it sight unseen......and this is what arrived today at the shop.

A 1981 KE 175 with 366 miles on it and has been stored since 1981! The bike is 100% to include th ebreakin decal on the speedo!

Wow that thing should be in a museum! Thats a great buy for $500. Hopefully the crank seals are not all dried up.

Best Kawasaki KE ever made, and a pristine CHEAp one to boot! Great find, give your buddy a 100 dollar finders fee or more!

Very Nice! I learned to ride on an earlier model KE175 that was my uncle's cow chaser. I have a clear picture of my Grandpa riding it at 90 years old back in the early 80's after they pulled his license. Thanks for the memories.:clap

I think I can safely say collectively we all hate you.

    Great find!

    Loved my '74 F7 Kaw 175.

Old thread, but that is so awesome. What's it doing now? Here's mine:

Horrible clatter deep in the engine. Taking the bottom end to the two-stroke guy tomorrow to have him check it out. 3200km on this one.

What's a good price on one of these? There is one for sale locally in very good shape and I am thinking of buying it, cleaning it up, and maybe flip this summer.

Hard to make any money 'flipping' one as parts are not easy to find and there is not much demand for them. I got $800 for mine after doing the bottom end so I pretty much got what I had invested in it. Fun little bike though, a light wheelie machine.

I always thought those things were rotary valve until they quit making them. Both my 75 KD175 and 76 KE125 were rotary valve but that one is reed valve. I like the red. My 175 was Kawasaki slime green and pretty hideous. :lol3

Last year for the rotary valve was 1978. 79-82 (I think '82 was the last year) reed valve.

That bike really does look like it is awesome condition. The crazy thing to me is that it looks to be in better condition than my 1976 KE was in 1981.
