One of the most influential and beautiful people in my life is losing the fight with cancer. Earlier in the year she expressed to me a desire to ride through the Ozarks again. I located a place that rented trikes and began the planning. Unfortunately she has taken a turn for the worse and hospice has been called. She occasionally has some strength and can get out. She certainly can no longer ride on 2 wheels. Pillion doesn't seem to be attractive to her. Does anyone know of somewhere I can rent a can-am or trike at short notice when she is feeling good? I can't imagine her wanting to do more than a 30 minute ride. In Lee's Summit, Kansas City area? I really need to find her a way to ride. Does anyone have a hack in that area that would be willing to take her for a spin? It would mean the world to us.
....to hear of your and her situation. You might check with a KC-area H-D dealer (Worth H-D comes to mind...talk to Anne) regarding renting a trike. Thoughts and prayers your way.
After some thought, I really think a sidecar would be the best option. I am not looking for a handout or charity. Just a quick ride around lake jacomo or something. I will cover fuel cost and anything else. I would guess that there would be 5-10 other bikes along for the ride. Including myself on my KLR. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
Thank you, I will do that. I should have thought of that and posted there first. It has been pretty tough to put coherent thoughts together today.
North"wet" is coming in with his Ural hack. I should have been updating this thread along with the one I put in the hacks section. The ride is on! It's tomorrow! We are meeting at the cracker barrel restaurant around 10:45-11:00 at I70 and Lee's Summit rd. From there, we will be going to pick her up and we will be doing a short ride around lake Jacomo. Her hospice nurse said she may be good for about 40 minutes of riding. The more riders the better. So far we have a pretty interesting collection of motorcycles along. Kz1000, Guzzi, 1950s pink Vespa hack, A couple HDs, triumph tiger, and Buella, my KLR. A couple small ds bikes are along as well. An XT225 and a crf230. North"wet" is bringing Linda gear to wear. After speaking with him on the phone several times this week, I am excited to meet him face to face. He seems like the best kind of person. He told me about a program where side car pilots take kids for rides at children's hospitals. I really hope you guys can join us. I know Linda will be having a great time. She has never met a stranger. Has a real love for life and an adventurous spirit. White water rafting, parasailing, hiking, funny hats, volunteering as a clown, margaritas, and laughing are her. She is amazing. These last couple days have been tough. The thought of this ride has me smiling through the tears. Thanks, ADVriders. Please join us. Sent from my C771 using Tapatalk 2
That's the kind of legacy we should all hope to leave. I've always thought I would want things to end quickly when the time comes. But after being with my wife's Mom as she went through her last months with friends and family; the strength, the love, the generosity, the grace...... and the opportunities to return those things........
Last minute bump! It's nice to see that we'll have a good little crew for this ride! See you all at the Cracker Barrel in about an hour.
She did! Ride report coming soon. I am going to try and get pictures from everyone and I will get to work on it. Sent from my C771 using Tapatalk 2
