Hopefully the third time IS a charm. After three attempts to plan this trip it looks like its gonna happen this time! The count down is less than four days now. Thursday is "D" day. What is the trip you ask? Well, my cousin, OFFROADMIKE, and I are riding from Seeley's Bay Ontario to Vancouver BC and back. A little over 10,000km. Unfortunately, since we both work, we only have two weeks to do it. Did I mention I just had a heart attack June 30th...? :huh
Time for a little maintenance... My 01 Connie, Big Red, needed a little attention. New fork, crank and drive oil. New brakes , tires and heated grips ( It gets cold in the mountains this time of year ). Valves checked, carbs sync'd and new fairing bolts from Murphs Kits. New coolant (It gets hot on the prairies this time of year) A new windshield system from Rifle and she's done! From my mobile
Wow That's awesome Bob!! I wish you and Mike a great trip and an excellent adventure. Can't wait to hear all the details when you get back. RSMF Doc
Bob, I salute you for your courage! Now get out there and live and be sure to keep us posted. LibraRider
Anyone know a good service provider, for my unlocked Rogers cell, in the states? Cheep From my mobile
Have a good time. It looks like you're spending too much time in the prairies and not enough in BC. It looks like you're taking the reverse route thru BC that I did when I rode my Stelvio back from Seattle in 2010. Enjoy. Sorry to hear about your ticker. At least you got to ride the RR! Cory
Hey Cory Hard to spend any less time in the prairies. If we do an iron butt it will be one day..see how we feel. From my mobile
Took Big Red out for a quick shake down ride last night. All seems good: only 34 hours till departure...: From my mobile
Day one. Well, later start than expected. Last minute issues downloading music into my tablet , and getting my son registered for hockey, caused our departure time to be pushed back several hours. 401 to Nappanee and then a rainy run up 41 to Kaladar where we ate dinner at subway. Decision was made NOT to drive in the dark, in the rain, through moose country. Though we had originally planned to stop in Bon Echo park to see my kids (camping with my ex) then carry on to Huntsville, in the end we just stayed at Bon Echo. Hopefully an early start tomorrow towards Bracebridge, Sault St.Marie and a stay a Lake Superior PP's Rabbit Blanket campground. Forecast calls for pain...er rain From my mobile

Day two - 840km day. Started off in the rain. Decided to change plans when Mikes Montana said taking the inland route, to hwy 17 via 41 to pembroke, was shorter. Heavy fog on 41, & on/off showers slowed our progress. Stopped in North Bay, at MD's,for lunch. Trips always make you eat poor foods... After Sudbury, the sky's cleared and we made up some time...its great to ride with someone who seems to be in the same grove. We had great flow and rhythm. It was almost surreal. Might sound goofy but i'm sure some of you have felt this way while riding. We were making good time, that is until just west of the Sault, where a bad accident closed the highway. We backtracked a couple km's and found a restaurant to eat dinner while we waited for the highway to open. It was after eight when it reopened. We decided to try to carry on to the Rabbit Blanket campground in Lake Superior PP. A we were leaving a local warned us that the park was extra bad for moose accidents, with over 100 last year alone. We didn't make it far before a combination of traffic congestion from the accident, and bridge construction stopped us again. The long line of slow moving traffic seemed to taunt us. After finally getting thru the construction zone we decided it was too risky to continue. We are currently camping on a public beach just outside Agawa bay. Definitely no camping allowed... Hopefully we can get up early and avoid a confrontation with park staff.. From my mobile
