I second Grover Hot Springs. Remember how you about froze your little sack off at the Sierra Soiree? It is just over the hill to the south. Moniter pass/Hope valley is colorful. The heated pool will be done.

    I ain't riding in no snow.:deal

Yes. Admin:jump realized those early dates would not work well to coincide with the trees changing color.

    Later is better. :deal

interesting put me as a maybe, Ill have to request time off. Is this a street ride (do I need to put on street tires/gearing?) Im used to heading up around Nevada city for fall, but this sounds fun.

I remember at warped (2011) you said anything under 600cc was acceptable to trailer in, does that still count for this event?

We don't even know what Kiel is bringing yet. What's it gonna be, Kiel? FJR or BMW?

Matters where Kiel decides to go, who shows up, and with what gear.
This will only be the third event, but the previous two have been more street oriented. Since its mostly unorganized, you get to do whatever the heck you want!

You could do either. Don't get discouraged due to slow replies. This thread is moving at the speed of glue at the moment. Hang in....

Grover Hot Springs SP would be nice. It's certainly pretty up there, but I'm pretty sure that there is very little around there. The nearest town is Markleeville which, if memory serves me, is really small. I've been through there a couple of times, and I don't even remember seeing a store. Please correct me if I'm wrong (like I have to give you guys permission!).

I've never been to Big Trees so that would be my suggestion, but I think you all have done that one before. I'm not familiar w/anywhere in El Dorado or Placer counties. Maybe someone could educate? :ear

I am not pushing Grover Hot Springs, just some facts. There is a grocery store in Markleeville. A bar/restaurant and a card lock gas station. A seasonal Deli that should be open until the end of Oct. 6 miles away on 88 is a general store in Woodfords with at least a breakfast/lunch restaurant. Minden/Gardnerville and a Casino complex/store/gas station at Topaz lake within 20 miles.

There are a few other seasonal small grocery stores and restaurants available to accommodate fishermen.

I came down 88 last year after this event and Hope Valley was packed with cars and people enjoying the "colors", I don't know about Markleeville. Monitor pass should have a good view of them and the road itself is worth traveling.

This so far has been a big adventure bike event, but there are dirt roads in the area. One off 89 to 395 with some spur roads off it.

A disavantage for me is it is in my backyard. I do the 108/89/4 loop many times during the summer.

Sounds like a recon ride might be necessary. :D

I'm still curious about places in Placer/El Dorado.

Same old thing for you. That's a drag. Are you familiar with any of the Plumas County stuff I listed earlier?
