Ok sounds good we were about to launch into making up a modified smaller Mecasystem style clamp mount but it looks like your is already what we need so keen to get more details asap
Some minus zero sand dune preparation... <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Winter weather conditions and sand dune training eh...???! Well... we're gonna' have to do something about these tyres for a start...! (click on pic's for a larger image) ahhhh... that's better! desertbergs + = snowbergs... Ready... Willing... and... wait... hang on a minute...!? :huh ... there's no papper in the toilet roll holder! :eek1 Oh well... maybe we'll just sit on them for a bit... and see if they're "comfy"... shall we? Oops! :huh the bikes 10 seconds old, and here come's our first R & D feedback... Broken plastic tank cap breather nipple... *bumped with boot upon mounting bike for very first time... Remedy: alloy nipple drilled and tapped into caps. * "Lucky Martin" team KEVA's long term evaluation test rider extraordinaire! Stay tuned for more... next we test desert bikes in the siberian wasteland...
Anyone tried fitting the 640 ADV tank? Other than the airfilter issue it looks as if it would work. I have a extra fairing and tank if anyone wants a go at it.
Sorry Lukas, missed your post! We have KTM brackets finished, very similar in design. A few pics snapped by a customer of the installed bracket.
Well, since the bikes were finished in january... there's only been the opportunity to "test" them on the frozen grasstrack test at the workshop outside of Hässleholm... But on the weekend Charlie, Kent and I headed down to Revinge field (an ex-military testing field) to give the suspension settings a sorting out... Even my little bloke - Cam's - followed along on his lil' JR50 to give the boys some hurry up... Kent warms up the bikes... it was fine and sunny (minus zero degrees) in southern Sweden this February morning... Kent and Charlie... ready to roll... Charlie punts across some whoops... about as close to the desert as we can get in Sweden at this time of year... Kent rolls it thru some whoops... with 20 liters on board... The Husa's are surprisingly agile and responsive... even with the extra capacity of the rear tanks on... Time for some adjustments... Charlie and Kent spent a few hours on the bikes, getting a good balance for the handling and suspension settings... Marocco will have everything from soft sand dunes, to fast open stretches of rocky desert to cope with... all in all we're pretty happy with what we have so far...
Cool, that's good news. Do you know which models it will fit? I am using a 2008 450 XC-F frame on my bike, not sure if the stem area is the same as the EXC-Rs. Looking forward to some pics of just the brackets unmounted and a price when they are ready!
Handlebar moved forward, well you can question this move, but I'm close to 2 meter tall and this makes my riding position while standing more safe.
After the suspension testing last weekend, it was time for one final "shakedown" of the two KEVA 450FE Rallye Husa's this past weekend. Now with the rally screen on the front, to protect the MD holder, ICO and GPS from flying debris like sand and stones, Kent and Martin loaded their routsheets and headed off on a 250 km test ride to familiarise themselves and check that everything worked with the navigation equipment. The day offered sub-zero temperatures and a mixed run of both dirt roads and forest tracks ... it was pretty cold outside and there were a lot of icy patches on the trails in the darker parts of the woods... About mid afternoon, we took a pause from the course checking to make a few corrections to the routesheet information. After the break, the guys continued on the remaining 150 km's of the route... by 18:00 PM we were back at the KEVA workshop just after dark... We were satisfied with the day and bikes in general. The three of us stayed for a few minutes in the workshop and talked about what was left to do ... but it felt like with regards the suspension settings, tanks, navigation equipment and so on that everything seemed to work well for both Kent and Martin. We reflected that for longer stage events (driving early in the morning or late at night), that it would be necessary to fit better lighting and illuminate the roadbook holder... but for TUAREG, this set-up would do fine. So that leaves us with two weeks, to tear down the bikes, give them a once over with the spanners and a "Loctite" bath, then fit some desert mousse and treads... Finally we will farkle the bikes with some rallye decals and so-forth... and pack the bus!
As you would imagine... not very good... :huh They are intended for use on snow and ice and off road conditions... Fortunately the route we'd plotted was about 90% gravel or forestry roads that link up the trails and offroad parts of the course... so other than some short stretches into three towns along the way (scheduled anks stops for the navigation ride we are planning in April), most of the time they were not on the asphalt.
It's my own design of the fairing and I estimate the bracket and tower to be around 300-350 Euro, please contact Raid Design as I know they have developed fairing fitted to Husaberg together with nav tower, I'm kind of a test pilot together with another swedish rider in Tuared who also uses Raid Design fairing.
give don a CPW a call his nav brackets are the goods got them on my 690 rally wepon kick arse speed machine. He is in WA , how are the mines treating you .
Our complete kit will look like this! Prices and details will be calculated when they return from the Tuareg.. Drop me a mail if you are interested: david@raiddesigns.com
