I'm beginning to feel sorry for Webber.
It must suck to be him.

Yes, he only makes $6M/yr, has a wonderful wife and family, and gets to travel the world driving F1 cars. Pure hell.

I got bored yesterday afternoon and watched the Indy race in Long Beach. Man, those Indy car pit stops were just painfully slow to watch. Looked like amateur hour compared to an F1 stop.

That and many other reasons reminded me why I stopped watching Indy cars a long time ago.

I thought it was a pretty good race. never expected Rossberg to have a chance at race pace, but he fought valiantly. I am surprised the stewards weren't having a look at some of his blocking moves. The guys at NBC sports (once again) failed to twig on the fact that Kimi was on a 2 stop, while everyone ahead of him was on a three stopper. the only car Kimi wasn't going to pass in the pits was Vettel.

Good finish for Lotus. The constant buzz during the race was 'they need money & sponsors", so this should surely help.

Why is Geddy Lee on the podium?

Really only 6 million a year! I thought he made more than that. Still at the end of the day I would be Vettel's bitch for that kind of money! Get to retier in the mid to late thirties with more money than you can reasonablely spend... Where do I sign up?

So the race from 2nd place back was amazing, I was unhappy seeing Vettel walk away at the front, but I would be unhappy seeing anyone walk away at the front. I was happy to see people battling from the beginning to the end of the race, shows what can happen if appropriate tire compounds are provided (I think).

OK, is it just me, or did anyone else cringe when Vettel was talking to Coulthard and said "I can't raise my leg that high, I'm not a woman..." WTF :huh

To be fair, that was the strategy that Red Bull had decided for Vettel. 3 stops, push hard, extend your lead gap enough to stay in the lead when pitting. Other teams running a 2 stop strategy could not afford to push as hard and wear tires as quickly.

It worked for Red Bull this week. The week before, the tire strategy they chose in Shanghai didn't prove as successful.

Let's imagine for a moment that Vettel could not quite get a 22 second lead gap; he'd have to fight for position when re-entering the field, use up yet more tire, etc. It does not always work in Red Bull's favor, the strategy they choose, but it did this time.

If we can believe the list compiled by Business Book GP and published on crash.net, Webber makes a little more than double that figure at current exchange rates: 10 million euro, no less. Same as Vettel.

However another source has claimed they are each eligible for 1M euro bonuses for each win (and less for lesser placings). IIRC Webber won twice last year. So that's about $15 million, plus placings, plus endorsements.

They must like his telemetry at Red Bull. Or he has pictures they don't want us to see.
