Ok good. Understand. Thanks for the help! The relays always trip me up. For those with a Tiger 800 looking where to mount the dimmer, I have the Puig touring screen and the mounting for that screen makes a perfect little shelf for the dimmer. Very clean looking and out of the way. The blue bypass wire will easily reach the highbeam wire under the gauge cluster. I removed the entire gauge and windscreen assembly to have access to the headlight loom. Pics will follow.
Still working on it...lol. Didnt have much time last night but I decided to make things more complicated and added in a distribution block so I dont have 19 things hooked up to the battery. Will run my GPS and Lights off the block for now. All behind the relay so it will be keyed on. Taking my time and making it a clean install. I soldered in the blue highbeam wire to the headlight loom and taped that all up. I am having trouble finding a 2-3amp fuse for this though. Smallest I can find locally is a 10A fuse with 12 gauge wire. Checking one more place today.
Tha Rick, Nice pics you posted. Any pics with only the LED lights? For those who will can only run only the LED lights due to real estate or power output on the bike.
Ned - not sure if you saw the pics I posted here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=24328767&postcount=194 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/31888011/IMG_6204.JPG https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/31888011/IMG_6205.JPG Those pictures compare two silverstar halogen H4's to two LR5's. No other lights in pictures. Taken with a DSLR with the same settings for both shots.
FYI folks - the LR62R lights are on clearance. Great deal for a light that throws extremely far. ADV15 coupon applies to clearance priced items as well http://ledrider.com/shop/?model_number=LR62r Note: these lights are big and ugly. Output/range is great. Would be perfect for a larger vehicle that needed downrange punch.
I don't have a specific diagram drawn up for that at the moment, but it's pretty easy to explain. You can refer to the relay portion of the visual here: http://ledrider.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/DimmerModuleWiringDiagram.jpg -- Grab an SPST relay from Radio Shack or the auto parts store. -- Pin 86 on the relay taps into the stock highbeam wire. You can add a switch between the highbeam wire and pin 86 on the relay if you wish to be able to fully disable the aux lights. Putting a small fuse here (1 or 2 amps) is a good idea, as a short in your aux wiring has the potential to take out the main headlight fuse. -- Pin 85 on the relay connects to ground. -- Pin 30 on the relay attaches to battery 12v positive (we suggest a 10 amp fuse here). -- Pin 87 on the relay supplies power to the positive wires on the lights (red or brown depending on model). -- Negative wire from lights (black or blue depending on model) goes to ground. If that's not clear, let me know, and I'll fire up the circuit designer :)
Just finishing my install last night. Still have to set angles of them but so far so good. Wiring was a bitch to find out where to hide everything. Will work for my upcoming trip but after that may have to rethink the wiring. Not as clean as I would like it. I really like how the dimmer works. Lights look great and very happy. Havent test rode yet to see the output it adds but I am sure it will be plentiful. Pics to follow.
Just a heads up: Operations will be on hold from tomorrow through Monday. Off for a weekend rally in Nevada. Any orders from now until then won't ship until Tuesday. We've got some cool new products coming out in the next few weeks when we return. Check out our Facebook page for more info: https://www.facebook.com/ledmotorcyclelights
I can attest that the LR4's have excellent lighting, as well as Justin being an outstanding person to do business with and I recommend him to anyone! I also recommend that the dimmer be implemented with the LR4's to make them useful for different situations. I took some pictures a little while back with a pair of them installed on my DR along with the comparison to my DDM 55w 5000k HID headlight. (The following pics aren't the best in terms of actual lighting because in person everything is brighter and this was from a phone camera) This is the HID alone on low beam: This is the HID on high beam: A pair of LR4's by themselves with the HID OFF: HID on low beam with the LR4's ON: HID on high beam with the LR4's ON:
