Just returned from approximately 3000 ride from my home on the Southern Oregon coast north. Left here and rode to Port Angeles WA the first day...530 miles with the usual slow going on the north coast of OR due to tourist. After crossing the Columbia River, it was free flying on up to P.A. Took the ferry from PA to Victoria and rode on up to the Port Hardy the next day. Took the ferry from P.H. to Prince Rupert. Great ferry ride. They have great tie downs bikes are very secure. I have had my bike tip over on the ferry to Victoria as it can be quite the side to side rocker and I had it tied to the side. Next day rode 16 east then 37 north to 37A. At this time, 37 is closed further up because of forest fires. The 40 miles to Steward/Hyder are well worth the entire trip. The views are amazing. Took the usual pictures of entering Alaska. Next day rode out and to Prince George. The ride south for P.G. to Hope was quite smokey with visibility reduced to less then 2 miles as there are over 300 fires going on in B.C. From Hope, crossed into the US at Sumas with is an easy crossing due to little traffic. Rode on the Aberdeen and back onto 101. My F800GS ran great. Mileage was between 55 and 61 mpg. It now has over 28,000 miles.

Hey Guys! I just started posting on my new ride report. My buddy and I went and did Colorado Mountain Passes. Check it out at: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=612677
I'm on a tour of Scandinavia and the Baltic States here. It's off to a slow start Ride Report-wise but should warm up next week when I get to Norway to ride the Trollstigen and Geiranger. Feel free to say "hi" in the RR; some of the European RRs drop off the radar pretty quickly in comparison to some of the others.
My wife's 800 has been awesome, despite some crashes and other mishaps. We have been on the road since 20 April, and we now call her F800GS "Frankenbike"...she is a real trooper and I could not have had a better trip partner! http://mckenzie68.wordpress.com/2010/05/29/valley-of-the-gods-may-25-or-day-37/
Ladies & gentlemen I submit my report to you, a journey from Memphis, TN to Colorado: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=617352 It's a work in progress...
The Plan: Ride our BMW motorbikes to South America from British Columbia, Canada. How: First we (Naomi and I) will ride the Continental Divide Trail through the United States of America with my father-in-law, Graham. We will continue to ride through Mexico, Central America and South America with the goal of reaching the tip of South America before the weather gets to unfriendly. After that we will return to Peru to explore and relax. our blog: http://nomi-beto-adventures.blogspot.com/ Alberto.
My recent 14500km ride across Australia. Mostly dirt. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=619683
Thanks John I'm in the process of buttoning it up tonight. I'm impressed with the general popularity of the F800GS, I think it has really caught on as a true adventure bike! I still love all the stares I get on the roads when I'm commuting on my dirty scratched up monster
