Installed my DRZ 400 S Rear Luggage Rack last night. It bolted right up. This thing is built like a tank, and I'm very happy with my purchase. Thanks! Rob
Thank you Rob, I'm glad you like your rack! That's what keeps me doing this. If there's anything else I can do for you, just let me know. Tom Davies http://www.Moto-Racks.com
Go here to buy on my website: http://www.moto-racks.com/Blank.html DRZ 400S or SM Rear Luggage Rack All racks have a mounting plate for the RotopaX Pack Mount. The flat bar brackets mount to the rear of the sub-frame tabs. This leaves the tab clear for the mounting of all types of side racks. Nuts are welded to the underside of the mounting plate. This allows quick mount/dismount of the RotopaX Pack Mount. Shown with the RotopaX 1 gal. fuel pack attached. The new RotopaX 1.75 gallon fuel pack will fit on this rack too.
Would you consider building pannier racks for the 89-90 Transalp? Kind of old and uncommon, I know, but the only offering on the market right now is the Happy Trail SU rack. I Like their rack but it seems kind of wide overall and not as simple as your stuff. Plus you're kind of local to me. Thanks!
Hi JB, thanks for asking. I won't be adding the Transalp to the product line, but maybe I can make up something custom for you. PM me with what you're thinking. Thanks, Tom
Thanks again for the extra time you put forth that ensured my rack would arrive and be installed before I left on my trip. Installation was simple and took all of 5 mins. I used an old tankbag as a tailbag for my trip and the rack worked flawlessly. Paint held up even when the sand got between the tailbag and rack and acted like sand paper. Moab was great, weather was ideal can't wait to get back there again. Thank you for an excellent, reasonably priced product. I'll be looking at purchasing your side racks as money and need dictate. Thanks again, Bryan
Here is Tom's rack with the 1.75 gallon fuel cell on the DRZ400S... I see some side racks and maybe a tank bag in my future as this set up in the photo below really didn't pass my "shake down test". In other words, I would not recommend loading down any tail rack on a DRZ400S like this, especially not for off road scenarios! I don't think the bike's tail frame is up to the load, not to mention the high center of gravity. All good reasons to order side racks, eh! ~Jeff
Hey Bryan, I'm glad the rack worked well for the Moab ride! If you do a ride report, be sure to post a link here. I'd love to see some pics. Thanks for buying one of our racks, and I look forward to providing you with whatever you need in the future! - Tom
Jeff, thanks for buying my rack and posting up some pics, especially the second one! I'm glad the rack worked well for you! Looking forward to getting some side racks to you when you're ready. - Tom
I'm not much of a story teller and forgot my camera at home, but did manage to get a few with the phone cam.
I love that desert country. I've got to get out there someday. Nice bike too, it looks like mine. Thanks for the pic!
I've got a few DRZ-400S or SM Rear Luggage Racks left in stock. I'll be making more within a couple of weeks. Get 'em today!
Hello, I really like the cleean look of your racks. I have few qestions regarding them: Can this racks be used together with Pelican cases (as a side cases)? Is 2 point mout system reliable with hardcases? what mounting/ quick release can be used for hard cases and your racks?
Hi AGiN, These racks will work with Pelicans, and the 2 point attachment is very reliable. I have sold many to the KLR crowd and never had a single complaint. Many of those guys use the Pelican 1550 cases and some have crashed their bikes with no ill effects to the racks. I recommend soft saddlebags for use on the DRZ, or if you must go with a lockable hard case the Givi E21's. They are well rounded, very light weight and they also have some flex to them. Your leg is less likely to get broken if it gets caught under one. I offer options on my website to add Givi cases to my racks. http://www.moto-racks.com/Blank.html In my opinion, Pelicans on a DRZ is just not a good idea. I now carry (and use myself) the Nelson-Rigg Adventure Dry Saddlebags that work perfectly with our side racks on the DRZ. The bags are $114.00 (pair) if shipped with the racks.
I've got a couple of Rear Luggage Racks and some Side Luggage Racks for the DRZ400S or SM ready to go! Go here to order: http://www.moto-racks.com/
