Under the view menu, select "Advanced Controls".
Down the bottom, you'll now have four extra button + others. The big red dot is the rec button.
Recorded movies will appear in your "My Documents" folder when complete.

For all the criticism of the 'new' Dakar, can you imagine getting close up footage and photos like that when the race was still in Africa?
