Currently shopping for a new battery.
Been having some weird electrical problems, and noticed the PO had thrown in a smaller 8AH AGM battery when I bought the bike from him.

Noticed other people on here were also buying some 8AH batteries for their 990's, such as that X2 from Batteries Plus.

So, what's the deal. I thought these bikes of ours called for a 11.2AH battery like the YTZ14S.
I know theres a ton of variations on this, and I understand people going bigger with their Lithium choices (mainly because what's advertised is overrated)

But why are people going smaller?

I've tested my electrical system so extensively, the only thing I'm able to deduct as a problem is this smaller sized battery of mine. But seems other people are getting away with it??

I have an old Yuasa 7 from my 530EXC in my 950 with FCRs which requires many attempts to start cold. Been in a few weeks, seems good so far. Every li-po I've bought has failed on 4 different bikes in the last 2 years. Never again.

I've been running a 7.5ah TurnTech LiFePo in my 950SMR for the past two years. A failed VR tried to kill it last spring, it bounced back once I put it om a charger. Since then it's been reliable. Cold starts take 2-3 attempts (38-45f) but it's never let me down.

Tried two turn techs 1st went 9 months / 2nd went 6 months. Joe has great customer service, but they didn't last long. Shorai in it now. Figure they should go 2 yrs at least.

My Shorai crapped out in less than a year. Their prorated warranty pissed me off. They would only offer a reconditioned unit as a replacement. No more of my money will go to that company.

I still use the chinee batteries. Replace them every couple years. I've been burned too many times by these specialty batteries.

I put an Anti Gravity in my too lightly used 990R a couple of days ago. I had one in my 1150 Adventure. It worked at stupid cold. The stock BMW battery is a POS, and will barely turn the starter over below 40 degrees F.

990 Adventure- the Shorai required minimal shimming to fit- not sure of the model. Used in Colorado for 3 season riding. Old BMW charger that came with my '92 GS and was approved for use in charging the POS Shorai

    Hi Guys
    Been years since I posted.....
Just replaced a battery on my 950, and found a deal for the Odyssey on www.apexbattery.com that seems pretty good. It's 120.00 right now and if you use the coupon code "th5" you can get an extra 5% off of that. Also, the shipping is pretty cheap and the service (so far) was great.
Just thought you might like to know.....

The man said "Electrons. When a battery is very cold the electrons don't move so fast....when warmed they become more active, this is true of many things even our bodies.... "

He was referring to batteries... as this is a battery thread and included many things, including our bodies. He didn't say EVERYTHING.

Why put in shit with no value to this thread just to be a pest. yawn...
