Well its been a week now and the good thing is I'm up and moving by myself. Im not moving freely yet still have pain in my left side of my back and I feel like I have a broom stick stuck up my ass as I walk!!
I have a heat pack on it right now which helps.

I did not get to many pictures on this last trip as we were busy digging out machines. Here are a couple that I did take.






We also had a small fire. We use a machine called a herman nelson that we use to melt out snow from around engine pulleys and for heating up the cab so the electronics work correctly . It works by injecting fuel under pressure past an ignition source. Well what is called the dieso's best friend burst into flames on us. At the time it was blowing 40knots so the wind was helping fuel the fire. I quickly shut it down and turned off the fuel. I managed to save the motor but the jet internals were cactus!!




Here are a couple of pictures of Iceberg ally. We need to be careful driving through this section because of the large icebergs.




It was still dark when I was trying to take these pictures. I had no trypod.


And a couple of night time shots on the plateau. I had a trypod for these ones.

Glad to hear you are feeling slightly better.

Still feeling a little worst for wear today. Just spent the last hour or so in our spar trying to loosen up.
I've also been doing research for my RTW trip when I get back. I cant wait to build my bike up when I get home. Almost all the parts I have ordered for the KTM 690R are at my parents place waiting.
I have just bought a new pair of Klim badlands pants off the internet as my old pants are a little old now. The only thing Im waiting on is my Rally Raid Adventure kit I ordered 5 weeks ago. I went the Evo2 tanks plus radiator guards, bar raisers and the Scotts steering damper.
As I have never had soft luggage before, so I also bought the Wolfman rocky mountain saddle bags which Id heard good things about.
Been reading through old ride reports that I've enjoyed in the past. Im currently reading Fishfunds Africa RR.

Fantastic photos and what a job you have

A few weeks ago, I just finished reading Endurance - Shackleton's Incredible Voyage (for those who may not know, this was polar explorer Ernest Shackleton's survival for over a year on the ice-bound Antarctic seas in about 1915)

As well as showing how desolate and stunning the continent is, your photos (and video) also bring home to me how amazing Shackleton and his crew survival really was. Thanks for that also

Good story and he got them all home, BUT he got them in trouble in the first place with bad decisions. Same as Donner Party, and Death Valley in 49. All got in trouble with bad leadership decisions.

I thought Id put a couple pictures of earlier in the season just before the sea ice melted out. I will not get the chance to get out to these places later on in this season as Ill be flying out to another station.
These pictures were taken just after I arrived in Antarctica. They were part of my first training in Antarctica.

Do all your diesel vehicles have in-tank heaters?

Most of our heavy diesel vehicles have some type of block heater connected to them for ease of starting.

Are your bv206s running the diesel Mercedes motor? The originals were the Ford Cologne 2.8 V6s but assume they're converted to diesel to simplify fuel sources? How many bv206s down there total?

We have 4 on station. One has the old Mercedes 5 cylinder engine in it and is still a standard bv206 that we use as our fire fighting vehicle. The others have been upgraded from your standard bv206. If you have a look from the front they have been lengthened to accommodate modern Cummins diesel engines. They are common rail engine bolted up to an Alison transmission. We have lubrication filters on the fuel input so we can run JET A1 fuel which is pretty much Kero. This way we dont have to worry about fuel freeze up on the plateau at -50 to -60. On station we can run diesel that has been treated which is good for -35.
