Idea ! Build a light adv hack for hunting / camping gear / guns Has to be easly removeable "3 bolts" No altarations to the bike other than a sub frame. Bike has to beable to still lean... So start with the sub frame.. prob the hardest part of the whole build as yer have design constraints from the bike.. So I ended up with a sub frame I can live with.. started on a slideing limiting strut to stop the bike falling over when parked but still let the bike lean..
Looking good so far Pete, can't wait to see more pics. I am getting ready to build the same style of setup on my XR650!

But please, for my sake. Weld some gussets on either side of the mounting struts. The weld would cope with a static force, but the length of the strut gives some mean force sideways, pulling and pushing from left to right.<o></o>

Basic frame tack welded togeather... steel is 25x25x3 RHS.. The swing arm mount has to be shortened yet...
Looks to be well thought out Pete, and well constructed. I'm just trying to grasp the concept of a leaner in an off road situation or even an on road situation. Is it like having a folding tagalong dolly attached to the side of your bike? I want to see video of you getting light on some whoopy terrain ...:eek1 Don in Nipomo
A leanning car on a dirt bike is really a unknown.. I have not seen another unit.. So I thought I would give it a go...If it proves to be no good I can relpace the slideing limiting struts & soilidly mount it... Pete
Owning an XR650R and having had the pleasure of riding a 'normal' hack, I'm really curious about this build and will be following it closely. I won't have to worry about catching air, much, since it's set up for the street, but I wonder if a damper of sorts would keep the chair from extending too quickly should you catch air in an off road situation. It should keep the chair from just dropping away but not prevent leaning and if you can find one that is adjustable you can fine tune it for a given situation.

Looks Good so far . I have a ktm 640 lc4 and your breaf for this could aply to mine so I'll be interested to see how it rides off road (how rough it gets ) and on road .
