im planning to install some TKC to my CBR this season, you guys think i have an clearance issue on my front tire with the front fender ?
What surface(s) are you planning on riding it on? I know someone who put TKCs on his SV, which has similar clearance. Worked fine in snow; but then, there's usually less danger of snow locking the wheel that there is with thick mud or stones.
I would say WTF! seriously dude are you kidding... then I saw you're in AK.... Now I think you'd better post pictures of that beast with TKC's!!!!! you could always just remove the fenders
Pretty bike (in a brutal, muscular sort of way). These things are nowhere near as useless on dirt (or in snow) as you might imagine. See here: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/4PBsH4Xry9U?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Planning to ride more awesome roads, but they'll come with gravel :) hahah thanks for the response, yes im in alaska , so this is why i have look into getting some knobby tires and i have heard these tkc seems to be pretty popular. i guess i can take off the fender but hopefully debris wont be flying to much,. ill only be slapping these tires on when i plan to tour knowing there is going to me miles of gravel stretches.. i want to make it all the way next year and also Denali road also interests me, i was running michy roads 3 this season.
You probably already know that the knobbies are going to throw rocks at that nice CBR. That's probably par for the course where you live, though, right? It looks like you've got a bit of clearance there, so your chances are good. I can't seem to find the detailed specs like they provide for car tires. Specifically, I would be curious to compare the total diameter of the TKC with your current tire (and mine, since I'd like to do the same with my Dorsoduro). The 110 size would be worse, since it has a higher aspect ratio (80 vs. 70). Being in AK, I imagine it will be tough to find one in stock to do a side by side comparison. Maybe someone has one they can measure?
Yeah I'm not to worry about rocks chipping her. These are after makers fairings and I can always get new ones . My local shop had them and I put it next to my front tire, and it seem like I may have an inch or 1/2 inch of space. I'll get them maybe in febuary and will let ya know how things goes
You can see in the video they've raised up the front fender. Maybe you can do the same with yours. Have fun with your bike and pics when you do it!! Dave
got the rear installed so far, clearance barley made it. looks good tho. will post the front when that's installed, let me know what ya think. its going to kick more dirt right? and balance isssue? im using Dyna bead
Am 300 miles into Big Block front tire test on My KTM (Picture tire was new, with worn Scorpion for block comparison) Findings so far (using standard Scorpion MT90 for comparison) Good In sand and soft dirt lean angles on road in dry Metal roads turning Price Ok In wet Metal roads heavy braking (not super stable at over 90mph) Value for money (may have a highish wear rate) Poor Upright heavy braking in dry (can lock at will below 50mph) General balance and vibration (mirrors now shake a bit) Wear, as am already burring back edges (though I think that due to the extreme brake tests and the occasional wheelie ) Am undecided at the moment as have a deal with bike shop that I can swap with cash difference for TKC80 if not happy (Shop asked me to evaluate tire on a big adventure bike so they can advise customers correctly) So we shall see My quess is this tire would out preform TKC80 apart from in the Poor List mentioned, time will tell

Thinking of replacing my E705s with these but mounting sounds like a PITA. An I'm used to getting 8+ k out of a set of tires. But the draw of those knobbies is aluring.
Gents I'm looking at all these options from an old thread, how's about some field reports on these and any other new options?!?!
My sarcasm detector just went off. In relation to the Big Block ride report/feedback...I tried one. It gave me the shits on road. It gave me the shits off road. It wore like 10 sons of bitches. It is now sitting in the pile of crap tyres to go to the tip. I went back to Mitas E09. A tyre that costs almost half as much and lasts about 3 times as long, and grips about 4 times better accelerating and braking on loose rocky trails. Disclaimer: Numbers may be pure speculation and conjecture based on emotional state at the time. I don't really own a sarcasm detector.
I do - and for some reason it is flashing like crazy at the moment... But then again, it always does that around me...
HAhahahahaha. Yup. That happens around me too. But the Kenda didn't impress me. Riding on dirt roads my wife was very critical of it from the back seat. She says it moved around under her and caused her all sorts of angst. She rated it as on par with the K60. She told me she much prefers it if I use the Mitas E07 or the E09 as they don't move around so much. So there you have it. My wifes ass has spoken. I'm sure you'll have fun with that. Heh heh heh.
