CAN-BUS explained

    can someone explain what exactly can-bus does, why you need/don't need it when hooking up aux components. Which applications are necessary and how to do it.

    Unfortunately almost the entire community has adopted the term "CAN-bus" (which is actually a controller network) when what is actually at work monitoring and controlling the electrics is the ZFE. Those wanting to better understand how applying traditional wiring techniques can lead to unintended consequences should also research "ZFE". In so doing one can better discern why a given reference citing the CAN-bus appears to have no bearing on the electrical issue while another one will. The misuse of the terminology is pervasive with little hope of correction.
