BMW skip plate fits ADVSpec bars?

Sorry, I tried to find the answer at some threads without luck.

Does anyone know if the BMW skid plate would fit with my ADvSpec bars?

Kept digging around and found that ... YES, they work together.

You know what else fits with the Adventure spec bars?
The Adventure spec skid plate.
And I can personally assure you that plate is one tough bastard.
BMW plate on the other hand had some iffy reviews if I recall correctly.

Thanks for the advice. ADVSpec plate has been my first option, love the bars, just checking other options, but I'll definitely consider your advice.

I have the Advspec plate and bars. They rock. Don't waste your money on the BMW branded money pit. Order your stuff from ADV spec. I did on a Monday and it arrived in Alberta from the UK on Thursday the same week. Cheap shipping and hardly any duty.

+1. Much better options from the aftermarket than BMW accessories, and the ADV Spec one is excellent.

I'll back that up with first hand experience. Hit a rock, bent the BMW aluminum skid plate and cracked the sump. I replaced it with a MOD skid plate that is a lot sturdier.

If you feel you need crashbars as sturdy as the Adventure Spec ones, then you'll probably need a better skid plate than the BMW offering.

+1 on the Mod skid plate. Protects the cat too.

I have the Adventure Spec crash bars and they are clearly the best out there...and I looked at everyones before buying. I didn't do the same search with the BMW skid plate and the welds show signs of cracking in two places. Not happy! Go with the Adventure Spec plate if you haven't bought it already.

I disagree. Are they good? Well, they're certainly better than nothing! But are they the best? Now this is qualitative statement which requires a bit of proof & justification.

Let's compare the mount options between the two. The Adventure Spec mount to the frame at six points. They are metal tabs which rely upon a bolt to pull in the mounting tabs to the outside of the frame.



Now compare to the AltRider ones. They mount to the frame at the same 6 points but it's obvious from the pictures they actually sit INSIDE of the frame mounts and the bolt pull the tabs internal to the frame mounting point. Plus provide resistance/reinforcement.



Realistically, you could have the AltRider ones work with barely any (0?) bolts because of the way it is designed.
