Reelfoot is an interesting area. The lake itself with all the "Cypress Knees" is a strange sight.

From the suggestions I've received in this thread, I've really been enjoying exploring the dayglow yellow parts.
    Good stuff in there. :nod

Understood. I work out of town quite a bit so my weekend rides are usually planned well in advance...but the decision to go (and where) occurs on Friday night.
Weather, how tired I am, etc.all come into the equation so, apologies in advance for what will most assuredly be short notice. :nod

My hometown courthouse, where my father and grandfather worked for many years. When I get back in country I'll meet you in front of Herb Parsons house on my Wee and I'll show you the few gravel roads left in Fayette County.

My wife, (and my ex-wife) have relatives out there...Who knows, you might be one of 'em.
...But we'll discuss that (off-line) another time just in case there are some incriminating details that don't need to be on the internets. :lol3

Ok. I suspected that early on, then it seems someone mentioned the same with a Suzook DR near by.

Hey, for a gpx file, do I need to get the program from Garmin to load files to my GPS units? Does the program work on all Garmin units? Is there freeware?

There is actually a bit more to it than that, but It's a good place to start. :nod

Hey, with the cannon above and the two I saw at Tims Ford SP on Saturday we could try again.

That's the 109 "B" model cannon. (I have no idea what that means but it looks important.)

Yeah, that end of the cannon always makes it look that way. Allegedly, many of the cannons at Shiloh are the originals. Not sure if I believe that, but they do look the part.

Had to do a bit of a search. Not sure of accuracy, but will share this. “B.H.” for Benjamin Huger. The "B" in the photo is easily recognized, yet there is an "H" as well. If I understand what is written in the site linked below, unreleased/delivered cannons may have had "B.H." markings for cannons destine for Virginia? (reference the text following the photo with the caption "Muzzle of Gun."

I may have missed where this photo was captured.

Good info! Here's what I found about that gun:

    Shiloh National Military Park

6-pounder bronze field guns, Model of 1841
    Alger - Reg# 16 - INSP JWR - YR 42 - WT 879
    Alger - Reg# 93 - INSP LABW - FDY# 469 - YR 53 - GRVS 15RH - L.B.DAVIES, James Type 1
    Alger - Reg# 95 - INSP LABW - FDY# 471 - YR 53 - WT 8-1 - GRVS 15RH - L.B.DAVIES,
    James Type 1
    Alger - Reg# 125 - INSP BH - FDY# 591 - YR 55 - WT 880
    Alger - Reg# 159 - INSP BH - FDY# 628 - YR 57

(Alger Cyrus Alger & Co., Boston MA)
    (FDY=Foundry number)
(YR=Year cannon was completed and/or inspected)

Has this thread taken a geeky-historical turn for the better or what? :lol3
