+1 on both counts. I think this year will be as frustrating for Spies (if not more) than last year. WSBK would welcome him back with open arms I'm sure.

The American racing scene is disappearing. Our talent will need to go to the UK or other national series to have a chance to move up. I want to support US racing, but where hell is it?

I read somewhere that Josh Herrin had an opportunity to ride for MarcVDS in Moto2 but turned it down to stay in AMA. There's probably more to it, like he couldn't bring enough money to the table but it is still interesting. Other than him America's future looks bleak.

Watched the Phillips island races and was wondering if part of Aprilla, Ducati and BMW bikes advantage is that they are more capable than the japanese bikes out of the box? The Euro bikes cost a significant amount more.

Factory development on the Honda stopped in 2008, according to a recent interview with HRC chief Nakamoto. I'd be willing to bet development on the Suzuki did too, maybe even as early as 2006 or so. The Kawasaki is a more recent design and their racing program has benefited from Kawasaki's withdrawal from MotoGP. The Euro brands are newer designs with more factory support.

When was the last time you checked pricing? 2013 BMW S100RR and Aprilia RSV4 are almost the same retail as their Japanese competition. They just give you a lot more for the $$.

+1, same up in Canada. If I can get an RSV4 for the same price as a Gixxer or a ZX10 then lemme know where.

2013 ZX10R has a price north of $14 thou. The ABS version is $1000 more.

I think the Kawasaki with Sykes aboard has the best shot, provided they have found a way to make the tires last, which was the problem last year. Honda is getting more factory support this year from HRC, particularly with electronics. If they can get that sorted, they may do better. Personally, I think Honda is treading water until 2014, when the rumored RC213 derived superbike is released. Crescent Suzuki has brought their engine program in-house, which may cure the rumored 30+ HP deficit that the Yoshimura prepped motors had. Camier did pretty well on the GSXR at PI but I think that Suzuki won't be able to mount a legitimate title challenge, although podiums and an occasional win aren't out of the question.
