Most probably do this already but when I have to fit a piston I slip it into the barrel and push it down so that the gudgen hole is exposed out of the bottom of the barrel then lower the barrel over the conrod and slip the pin in and circlips, having the piston in the barrel holds it nice and square and is much easier using a ring compressor to fit the piston in the barrel. Make sure you place a rag around the conrod so you don't drop a circlip in the engine. This is easiest on singles.

When you are looking for the bolt in the shit tin, dont tip it out on the bench or floor, open up a newspaper and empty. When you find you have every bolt known to man except the one you want, its a simple matter of picking up each side of the paper and funnelling it all back into the tin:deal

Trying to reach a bolt at a bit of an angle and the nut keeps falling out of the socket? Annoying aint it!:D Just put a bit of grease in the socket to hold the nut, hit it with a bit of Brakleen to clean it up once installed

Put a couple of pairs of lightweight gloves in your toolkit/tank bag for working on your bike. Nothing nicer than doing a tyre change and peeling off the gloves to reveal your baby smooth hands ready for your road gloves

And if your riding gloves get wet put a pair of these gloves on under your riding gloves.... a lot warmer than having wet hands...

    .....

Twist top tomato sauce bottles make great oil bottles, they seal well, don't leak or perish, almost unbreakable, come in 250ml, 500ml, and 900ml, and you don't need a funnel.... Also handy for oiling chains...

Use the tools you carry on the bike to reassemble the bike. Don,t use long spanners that you can,t undo the nuts on the trail.
