I am going South Wed 29th Jan (Bluebridge 8.00am sailing) with a intent of riding some of the more interesting upper South Island tracks & roads possibly including the Maungatapu Track, Porika, Braeburn, Rainbow & the associated passes, & then Friday heading into the Clarence River Reserve. Probably meet Manuakau.KTM at the Clarence. Home Sunday via the Molesworth, on the 7.00pm sailing. Anyone keen to go with, let me know...
Be sure to phone DOC before you head over Kaikoura way to do this track. After all the rain today and possibly next couple of days, they may decide to keep the Clarence closed that weekend- due safety reasons, steep clay tracks etc. If it's open, enjoy, great ride in there.
Please read my blog www.mittelerde-mit-dem-motorrad.de Site Reiseplan perhaps we meet i´m riding a black DR
I'll be on a red KTM lc4 (made before Austria was awash with orange) with a mate on an orange 990 adv. We will stay Friday night in Kaikoura and head up to Clarence on Saturday. I have rung the DOC office for permits but they said that we only need $20 at the gate. Cheers Wayne
Hi Andreas, I knew that you were likely to be in there at that time. I'll keep an eye out for you. I'm on an R100GS with a HPN tank, & Manukau.KTM will be on a red & black KTM 640. I'll likely camp in there.
Hi Box I ve been in there on Friday from 12 to 16. I´m sorry we did not meet, I was the only bike the friendly Ranger told me. It began very foggy, but after passing the saddle, man what stunning views. (first pics on my website) I could get in about 20 K´s, before I had to return to meet my friend Jan in ChCh. It was so wonderful.
Hi Andreas. Yes I missed the friday opening & didn't get in there until saturday. Sorry I missed you.
