I'd probably buy it around that price range, looks like it's in pretty good condition. :thumb

650's are lighter and better out of the box. The 1000's are loud and cranky (e.g. they run crappy, especially at low RPM's) out of the box. Properly fixed with a tune, they're neck and neck IMO. I was in the market for a 650, but my 1000 came along at a price I couldn't refuse. Haven't regretted it once.

They get better mileage and have the same 5.8 tank as the DL1000....much better range.

In 1999, these bikes were ahead of KTM in innovations and reliability. It took KTM another 10 years to come out with a 6-speed. The linkageless suspension is a breeze to service, not to mention that the bushings rarely need replacing (unlike KTMs). Wet weight is 235#.

Nah, it has plenty of trail miles. I'll confess a secret. This bike uses the same plastics as a mid-90's KTM, but ATK only does a run of white plastics every 3-4 years. The last time they did one, I picked up new size panels and a rear fender.

I'll make a scream'n deal for an ADVr. If the price is close to the asking price, I'll toss in an amazing # of extra parts. Gas tank, air box, undented spare pipe, new rear brake rotor. While most ATK parts are off some other bike, I spent years combing ebay & stock-piling the unique materials so that I could keep the bike running indefinitely.

The bike also comes with full factory service manuals.

That seems like a smoking deal for an original owner ATK. Are the engine parts interchangeable with any other bikes? Are piston/rings readily available?

Im sure someone will get a very good deal.

Most Rotax parts aren't interchangeable, but can be obtained thru 2-3 different sources in the US. I think I did put on a shift lever from a YZ125. I usually ran a Weisco piston. This motor was also used in shifter carts.

Every other year, I would put in a new piston. On the years between, I just changed rings. Transmission uses ATF, which was changed after every 2-3 rides. I always ran a synthetic 2-stroke oil.

Thinks like fork seals, chain sliders, brake pads have all been cross-referenced to WP, Yamaha, or KTM parts.

Well, if any 1985 Wing is worth that much, I guess it would be that one.
