Serviced bike yesterday,my oil tank screen had small bits of rubber on it. Is this the water pump seal coming apart? None on the lower screen. No water in the oil.

What color is the rubber you found? The OEM water pump seal is battleship-gray, and it's the shaft that wears grooves into it which allows the coolant/oil exchange past the seal lips- the lips take a beating & wear so it needs replaced at the same time to maintain a tight seal

If the bits are black more likely cam chain guides...

Inside layer of one of the rubber hoses between the scavenge pump and the oil tank?

I've had them delaminate in other applications, but don't know for sure the LC8 has rubber hose in this location.
